D-Force LTW5 17x8.5/ET40 - 235/40 Tires

Hey guys! Picked up my 135 last weekend and took it to the track this weekend. Don't worry it's a 2010 so it was well broken in. Great fun, though I really would prefer a set of track tires/rims to prolong the life of my stock rubber, square setup to remove the tendency to understeer at times, and to get a bit more grip.

I know the 235 square will mean less rubber in back, but I'm ok with that for now until I do decide on what I'd like to do with the suspension/camber plates.

So, do you foresee any issues running this setup on stock suspension? From what I have researched and read, it will be fine. But I'd like another opinion before I place the order.

I purchased the same exact wheels for my 2012 128i m-sport for it's dedicated track tires. Through my research I have found you might get some rubbing up front using a 235/40 (depending on the tire) leading to a 3-5 spacer and maybe some fender rolling. Not wanting to deal with spacers or fender rolling I'm opting to go with a 225/45 Dunlop Star Spec. I have plans for suspension upgrades/camber plates in the future and will eventually run a 245/40. I will report back after I get the tires mounted and take it for a test drive.

No seems fine. But alot of people run the 17" Kosei K1 rims instead of those D Force whatevers. So you may want to consider grabbing those if you haven't gotten the rims yet. I'm personally tempted to grab some Kosei's myself and do a 255 square setup but I fear that 255 in the rear won't be enough for my gobs of methanol torque.

LTW5's and kosei's are popular among bmw track junkies. the kosei's run a bit cheaper but they have the same off-set as the LTW5. I am running the LTW5 myself but I can't answer your question since my suspension has been heavily modified but I think you should be able to run 235 if you get your fenders rolled

Thank you for your help guys. I just ordered the Kosei's as they were a lot cheaper, even more so when you consider they can mount the tires (Star Specs), and you save on shipping costs through tirerack.com. I was considering the Nitto NT-01, but I've had the car just over a week and it's going to take me a few more track weekends to get used to RWD when coming from AWD. I'll save the r-compounds and larger tires when I'm ready to do suspension/camber plates and have a bit more confidence and experience in this car after this season.

I hope they fit, and they should without modification based on my reading, but I don't mind rolling the fenders a bit.
