Need experienced advice with this setup. I am trying to avoid taking the shocks off the car any more than I have to.
The rear does not settle as quickly as I would like. I have the rears set to 1 turn from full sft, which was an improvement from 3/4 turn. I have read that there is some bounce that cannot be dialed out without switching to rear M3 bits, but they are not in my budget. I do have M3 subframe bushingS. Does anyone have experience with this setup and success with running more than "half stiff" on the Konis with stock rear arms? I don't really want my shocks and stock arms' bushings working against each other. The control is tolerable now, but just enough vertical boioioing here and there to be a little annoying still.

This is where I suggest a test and tune day to dial in your suspension to what you're looking for. Personally I run the 1+1/4 from stiff for normal driving. In track events I go to 1/2 turn from full stiff. In autox I go 1/4 from full stiff on front, 3/4 from full stiff on rears. This is fully dependent on what you want out of them, and what the rest of your setup is. |

This is where the externally adjustable rear Koni Sports come in handy. You don't have to remove them to adjust them. They cost a little more, but are worth it if you are going to tinker with them or change them for track or autocross events.
I usually run my rear shocks at 2/3 a turn from full soft in normal driving. I've got 2011 OEM M Sport rear springs (linear rather than the progressive that came on my car). I also have M3 sub frame bushings, guide rods and upper links on the rear of the car. I like the set up for the street. I also think adding the rear M3 guide rods makes a noticeable difference in the way the rear of the car reacts. My fronts are set to 1 and 1/4 turn from full soft. Unfortunately the only way to know what you like is to play around with various settings.

The problem is the setting is just an individual preference so it's hard to compare. I believe I have my Dinan rear Koni's set to 3/4 turn from soft.
1Pirate and those with external adjustable rear Koni's, did any of you cut a throw in the trunk lining to give quick access to the adjuster? I hate taking the trunk liner out each time to adjust it. |
