Need suggestions on RFT tires
After a couple track days and 13,000 miles of spirit driving (and pure joy), now my 4 Bridgestone Potenza's are running low on tread.
I was looking at some alternatives to replace the Potenza's with. (for those interested, check out 12/05 Car and Driver's high performance tire comparo) But it appears that few high performance tires come in runflat version. In fact, when I look on tirerack, the only runflat tire that comes in my size are Bridgestone Potenza's. So, what are my options? Am I stuck with the Bridgestones? What tires do you guys run with? My car is 330 with zsp, so I'm looking at 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear tires. -hkj |

If you want to stick with RFT you're pretty much limited to the Potenza's unless you can get up to Canada easily where they have the Michelin Pilot Sport Run Flats.

I noticed the same thing on tirerack. I have 20K+ and starting to shop for tires. I found out quickly that there was no other choice than the bridgestone and I am sticking with RFT. It was easy for me, bridgestone...

Well... I want to stick with RFTs just because I don't have spare.
It's too bad the runflats aren't more popular though... How do you deal with flats w/o spare if you guys are not running runflats? -hkj |

I'm planning on getting either the M Mobility kit or one of the aftermarket versions of the same thing. Has tire sealant, a compressor, and some other stuff in it to fix small holes. For a large hole I'll use BMW assist or my insurance company has roadside assistance. Not the best solution, but until they get more availability and bring the cost of RFT down it's what I'll be doing.
