What wheels can I use for an 130i with 135i hubs?
Hey guys.
So I bought a 2006 130i with 135i hubs, brakes etc. It also came with M3 front suspension and sway bar. It needs some work but the first thing I'm going to tackle is the tyre rubbing. X5 wheels came with the car - the same as these: http://www.reifenprofi.de/Original-Aluf ... -E179.html They are 18x8.5, offset I presume is 46, and they have 235's on the front with 245's on the rear. The car is lowered on BC coilovers. The car rubs on the driver side when going over hard bumps etc (not very aggressive, but annoying and noisy) so I would like to go to a slightly less aggressive wheel. I would have thought they would not have rubbed considering a 135i wheel for example is 18x8.5 as well but maybe it's the slightly lower offset that's just causing them to rub. Would the normal 130i wheels slot on ok even with the 135i hubs and brakes? Thanks in advance |

The OE 18" wheels for 1 series normally have 18x8.5 ET52 rear wheels. You will find styles such as 208M, 261M, 264 in these specs.
The fronts wheels are 18x7.5" ET49, so there could be an issue with the clearance for the BC coilovers when using 235 front tyre width. |

You didn't mention whether it's rubbing on the front, on the back, or both.
Regardless, you probablyshould be fine with most of the standard 1 series offsets as long as you're not too dumped. You can get them from VMR, GTC, Apex, etc. Or maybe you just need to get a fender roll. 18x8.5 ET45 fronts and 18x9.5 ET58-62 rears Best would be to get some input from some of the guys with the same car and 135i hubs though. evolution42 Giveway74

Yea, it's just rubbing at the back driver's side. I think if I changed to 130i standard alloys (18x8 on the back) which has a slightly better offset it would be fine. Hopefully!

Standard 130i wheels are fine with the 135i hubs. However i run a 235 tyre all around.
I get rubbing on the rear guard bumper mount tabs with a 235 semi slick on 18x8.5 et45 wheels which is more like a 245 tyre until the edges wear down.

I've had a 245/40R18 NT-01 Semi on a stock rear 261M (8.5" ET52) with no rubbing issues. However, I am now running the same setup as Giveway74 and have rubbing issues with 235/40R18 NT-01's on a 18x8.5ET45 rim, even with rolled guards, cut bumper mount tabs and trimmed fender liners. Rear camber will not exceed roughly -2 degrees, even with adjustable toe arms. You will need a camber kit if you want more rear camber. There's now less rubbing since I did a Wakefield day last month though.
