passport 9500ix vs v1

i have passport, does any one has v1? when i use passport it doesnt seem very good and doesnt detect much. which ones better?

and it doesnt charging battery is it normal? i saw one of my friends passport charges and works without plugged in.

i had zero issues with my 8500 x50, saved my ass so many times i can't even begin to tell you. I hard wire mine into the over head lights, in my old car. Alot of having a radar/laser detector is knowing how to use it properly, setting it up, and not driving like a complete ass hat.

what is difference hard wired and coiled smart cord?

hard wired means you can usually mount it higher and out of view, espically without the cord pulled accross your dash..

although the best position for a detector with rear facing abilities shoud be some where near the center of the windshield to get a clear view foward and backwards.

i swear by my v1. all the gps stuff on the passport is cool, but it still doesn't look behind you. v1 has saved my ass so many times...
