Cool Carbon vs. Stoptech
Ok guys,
Its time for new brake pads. After reading all the reviews Ive narrowed it down to the Cool Carbons or the Stoptechs. Any thoughts?

Compared to the stock pads that came on my car, Cool Carbon produces much less dust, has much less initial bite and is easier and more comfortable to modulate. They also resist fade much better, in mountains for example. Stoptech is halfway in between. I prefer Cool Carbon.

I love my Ferodo DS2500's for the stopping power but I hate the noise they make. You basically need to rebed them in once a month or they will squeak when they aren't warmed up.

My OEM pads still have meat on them but they squeak like hell!

Which StopTech's? I used a set of "Street Performance" on the front of my old car, and they fell apart (literally chunked and crumbled), and ruined a set of rotors after one track day. I figured that they would be maybe one step up from the OE pads, NOPE. Go figure that about a month later StopTech's website had changed the description of the pads to say "do not use for tracking under any circumstances".
How hard is your car driven? Do you even need to "upgrade" from stock? |

What are you using your pads for? Daily driver? Some track? Autocross?
I love the ferodos! No problems and I track the car 4 days on them and 3 auto-x. Cool Carbons did not last very long on the track and autocross. They have waaaay less initial bite than the stock pads, which can be troublesome in urban environments on daily driving. No experience with Stoptech. |

Really?! Wow, mine haven't done this at all. In the beginning they were a bit noisy but after a week, not even a peep. I absolutely love mine.

It was the exact opposite for me. No noise after I had them installed and bedded them in. Then I'm guessing they got unbedded and not I get noise all the time until I warm them up basically.

Im in England and I have tried Ferodo DS2500 which work well with a little less initial bite than OE pads but work brilliantly with a bit of heat into them.
They can be a bit noisey after using them around town with light use. We import Stoptech into the UK selling alot for the Hondas and they work great so I will probably be trying the Stoptechs soon! |

Street driven daily driver...
I just had the performance rotors and Cool Carbon pads installed. Have not driven it much yet but the bling rotors look great, pedal feel is perfect, they're quiet as can be and the dreaded dust seems to have gone away! So far my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!
