Chime sound is too soft

1ser has a nice chime sound, however it is hardly noticeable if music plays too load. Has anybody else noticed that? I always miss my low fuel notification. I think audio system should mute for a second to make chime more noticeable.

I believe you can adjust the loudness of the chime through the radio.

The light on the dash is loud enough for me!

I also have the chime volume set to the lowest within the radio (same area as setting the bass, treble, etc). Does this setting adjust all chime volumes or just some? Now that I think about it I'm not sure.

I had to crank my "gong" all the way down because that darn thing was so loud. It drove both me and anyone I was talking to on the hands free nuts every time I hit the limit I set for speed or was low on gas or whatever. Thank god for that adjustment!

It doesn't do anything at all as far as I can tell. I've got mine all the way down and it's still too loud.

your potty mouth makes me a sad panda

I can hear my low fuel chime loud and clear, especially when driving with the windows down and the radio up at 'highway' speeds.

I turned the chime all the way down and the PDC volume all the way up in iDrive. If i have music on, I may or may not hear the chime when the fuel reserve warning comes on, and I find that the PDC is still not as loud as I'd like if there's music playing (maybe iDrive can lower the music volume?)

As an aside, I find the fuel warning kind of annoying, at least on my car with the iDrive. I can hit the "BC" button on the turn signal stalk to dismiss the warning, but no later than 10 or 20 seconds later, the warning comes back again. I don't mind having the warning there all the time (I'm used to it in my old A4), but it means the clock display goes away in both the IP and the iDrive, so every time I'm low on fuel and want to check the time, I have to hit the "BC" button, which is kind of annoying.

Sounds like there are some differences between my '08 and your '09 iDrives. I can't find any adjustment for either the chime or PDC levels - only on/off for the visual PDC warning. But when the fuel level is on "reserve", the only thing eliminated on my display is the trip odometer tenths reading which is replaced by the fuel icon.

I was curious so i did a quick search in the 2008 iDrive version of the owner's manual, and I didn't see any mentions of volume adjustments for the gong or the PDC.

Guess I'll have to trade my '08 in on an '09 to get those critical adjustments - seems a shame as my 'vert is running perfectly...
