Michelin PSS

Looking into getting a set locally and the usual recommendation is to go 10mm wider front and rear (225 and 255), but it seems that whilst the 225 width is available, the 255 width isnt. Would there be any issues running 10mm wider at the front (225) but keeping the stock width (245) at the rear?

No issues. 225/40/18 and 245/35/18 staggered combination will be fine on the stock 135i wheels.

yep, I'm running 10mm wider just on the front and all is good.

Same boat, they didn't have the wider rears at the time.

You can get Conti SC3's for half the price in the size you're after. Yes PSS are a good tyre, but a ripoff in OZ.

tirerack? i just ordered my first set of tyres and it was easy as.

From memory PSS were close to the $1k mark but GY Assymetrics 2s were about US$700 (plus shipping, fitting and exchange rate), but still way cheaper

Had no luck locally, with several stores unable to get stock with no ETA and likely a few months wait. Ended up putting an order through Ozzy Tyres over east for the OEM sizes for just under $1500 shipped.

I recently got a set or PSS. great tire but I had rubbing on the rears so had to get my guards rolled. I had 255/35/19 on the rear.

These did go on 19" rims and not 18", but wish I had stuck with the 245 so I didn't have to get the guards rolled.

This was caused by the offset of the 19" wheels widening the track and pushing the wheels out. They would fit if the offset is the same as the standard 18" wheels. Plus you have to lower the profile as the tyre becomes wider and wheel diameter increases or keep overall diameter inline so that speedo doesn't get too far out.

Is yours a M-Sport pack model. My 123d is and I am running 255s on the rear with no rubbing. I believe it's because the M Sport suspension models have rolled guards from the factory. Mine does at least.

It only works out to be about a $150 saving from Tirerack after accounting for shipping and GST. Quicker and less hassle locally.

Tempe didnt have the rear sizes listed on their site.

Dont forget about the stamp duty over $1000 threshold and fitting. Fitting may not apply to you as you are in perth. All sydney siders what you see in price includes fitting and balancing.

You should at lease call them up and see if they could get them in.
