Automatic e82 needle jumping

When I let off the gas and coast down to a stop, my engine seems to jump up instead of slowing coming to a stop.

My needle on my tachometer will go down them jump up 500 rpm coast down some more then jump up 500 rpm.

I was recently in a wreck, but it did not cause any engine damage (that I know of).

What is your thought on how to fix it. It did not do this before the wreck.

Thank you

You hear your engine doing this? Or is it just the needle moving around? Your instrument cluster could be messed up

I am having the same issue. If happens more when the ac is on? There is a software update that supposedly corrects this. There are a few threads about this issue. Make sure you video it and show the dealer.

I can hear the engine revving up when it does this so it is not the gauge cluster. I will check with BMW on this to see if they have an update that will fix it

Sounds like the car is downshifting as you slow, which will increase the RPMs with each shift. I would think this is normal.
