SES light after new wheels installed..?

So I put on my forgestars this am with new oem tpms etc and got a ses light after driving about 10 miles...I reset the tpms 2 times to no avail. Any clues? I'm hoping its just the computer learning the drastic weight reduction from my stock wheels with winter tires (around 70 lbs each! Fuck!) to the new forgestars which are 55lbs each with tires...

When I put wheels on without TPMS, I get a tire warning that says no sensors, shows a tire symbol and that is it.

My auto-x wheels do not have TPMS, so that is my reference.

When I put wheels with TPMS back on they are recognized right away.

Your wheels really weightd that much? Anyway that's weird msn. I just installed my forgestars this week with Oem tpms. Only thing it said was reset tpms because I think it wasn't oriented to the sensors but after 1 reset was fine. Not sure what your prob is. Did you use same tpms or new ones. Art you sure you got the right ones as in 2011 BMW went to a newer type of tpms sensor? Btw what forgestars did you choose? I just threw on cf5s

I got F14's in matte gunmetal. I ordered through mod bargains and they matched my vin to the tpms. They were new ones, not from stock wheels. I haven't had an ses light for over 6k miles when my intake came loose while driving...I have no idea. Gonna run it through the scanner in the AM if it hasn't cleared itself after cold starting fahk

It might honestly just be random chance. A TPMS light will def have a picture of a tire as mentioned above. Even if you got the wrong "year" sensor, it would act as though there's no sensor there at all, so the standard TPMS light would come up. If for some reason something happened to a brake sensor, it would show the 'BRAKE' light as well. If somehow you messed up a wheel speed sensor, you'd be getting a butt-load of different lights on top of the SES. I think it's just random chance that your engine needs servicing soon, right after you put the wheels on. You could try and read the codes to be sure.

2100 miles to an oil change is the closest service request...everything else is 15,000 miles or more. 12,000 on the car now...inspection due in august. cold starting in the AM, praying it will clear, then scanning if it doesnt.

no tire lights or brake sensor lights, just the SES in upper right hand of warning cluster. bah. thanks for the input

Ya I ordered mine from mod bargains also and they matched my vin to the right tpms as well. Didn't know you ordered.

as expected. ses was completely unrelated. intake temp was the cause. this happens every time i go to the dealer...no idea why though. any clue? afe stage 2 cold air, i cleared it and it hasnt come back.
