$2900? No offense to Vivid, obviously they are bound to pricing by what it costs them but if you're gonna drop $3k on an intake, you have some serious mental issues. I don't care if you have Oprah money... NO intake is worth $3k. You could have a hand made CF piece made for that much. Call me when the price drops to $999 like the older Gruppe M's

$2800 is the MSRP price, not what you would be paying. This is a brand new product with limited production, and the dollar is weak right now.

this shouldnt be anything new guys. its always been known that Gruppe M is baller priced. the fact that they are still in business after all these years does mean that there are a select few of crazies out there. Although I must say the quality does show.

3k for an intake. Man for 3k I can buy an downpipe back maddad whisper exhaust, ETS intercooler, jb4 and and an injen intake. I couldnt see spending 3k on an intake. Damn thing better be gold plated and come with some fine ladies for that price.

Again, no offense to you guys. But still even if you say MSRP and then chop 20% off the top, thats still over $2k on an intake.

The dollar being week in compared to the Yen has been under 100 since 2009 so it's nothing new though. It was hovering in the 90's since late 2008 its at 78 today a >15% drop doesn't make up for the 200% increase in pricing from the N52 pieces that were around $900-$1000 in '08-'09 when I considered buying one for my 328. If it was $1200-1500 MSRP then sure I'd attribute it to a weak dollar but being double that, not a chance.

well duh, its nice stuff. I just think of it like I do of any brand that gains a ton of popularity for its superior quality. It becomes more of the value of the brand name than it does the value of the product you are getting. Other intakes on the market are (or were) only $500 or so (this was my N52 I am speaking of). I got a CF simota for $399. Sure it didn't sound anything like the GruppeM but its was nice and I got some power from it. The fact that the GruppeM was almost 2.5x more expensive wasn't justified as its quality wasn't 2.5x times superior... it's name/reputation was though. Sure if it was a matter of $399 or $599 for the GruppeM, maybe a bit more reasonable but again, $2800 MSRP? Not justified in my eyes and I don't think many others. If they want to keep it limited then this is the right play cuz you might only see a handful in the US at that price point.

If they sell 5 of these at full price that's probably the equivalent of selling 30-40 intakes of another brand. I think the turnover is low but the profit margin is really high.

The fact that these clowns used "the dollar is weak" to justify the heavy over-pricing of this is rather pathetic. Oh VividRacing, you will never see a penny from my pocket lol

I'm sure Gruppe-M didn't tell them to mention the depreciation of the dollar when advertising their products

Vivid's not the one to blame here. Of course they have to price to make some sort of profit but ultimately its Gruppe M that calls the shots at the price they sell to Vivid.

Vivid always gives me the best pricing on everything. GruppeM has always been ridiculously priced, and definitely overpriced for what you get. Great craftsmanship, high quality CF, and maybe a bit of inflation are what drive the price up so high, even on a piece with such a small performance gain. Any vendor anywhere would be forced to set their price based on what GruppeM's wholesale price is, so it is what it is.

Nowhere have I said that the exchange rate between JPY and USD was the SOLE factor in determining the price of this product. Saying that it isn't a factor at all would be just as foolish as not mentioning it.

I could list at least a dozen reasons why the price is so high, but in the end, that's not going to change the price. Most of them would only be speculation anyway.

Everyone else, thank you for understanding that the MSRP price of this product is out of our control. At the end of the day, this is a top notch product with an (admittedly) steep price tag. It is a full carbon fiber ram air intake, using a quality air filter, and yielding 20HP. Whether that's worth it to you is subjective.

Thanks for the support! We wouldn't be anywhere without our customers, and I'm glad you've been happy with your experiences with Vivid.

Our Data Entry team has it in the queue! We're adding new stuff all the time, so it usually takes a few days to get stuff up on the website.
