Both the PDX-5 and the HD are compact, Class D amps. The Kappa Five is also Class D but somehow its size is much bigger than what a Class D normally is. So installing these amps will depend on where and how you will mount them, not so much their sound quality as their specs in paper are too close to declare a clear winner here.

Now, in real life I would go with the HD 900/5 if a single, price not too concerned, high level inputs capable, small 5-channel amp is what's required.
I was going to install all my own gear, however work, and family are getting in the way so i have decided to get everything (all parts bought sperately off installer including dynamat) professionally installed. It is going to cost a bomb, around 1k (labour in $AUD) however this will include dynamat covering the floors and also door trims. I decided in the end to also add an Audison bit 1 to my list of installed equipment since i can now individually tune even the tweeters. Company i plan to use is FHRX (www.fhrxstudios.com) as i was impressed with their attention to detail and strong specialist reputation. The thing i feared the most was further warrenty issues and i am running a total new wiring harness so if there is an issue i can easily swap back in all the stock equipment and isolate the aftermarket componentry. It took BMW 5 months to fix a bluetooth issue, and their easiest solution is to blame anything aftermarket regardless of the impossibilities/improbability that is could or could not cause the issue.

One of the main reason i did this is because at least this way if anything goes wrong i can just return it for them to fix. The only item i did buy elsewhere was the HD900/5, and i got him to agree that there should be no alternator whine if installed correctly. The sound processor should not remove the alternator whine if it is.

I have finally confirmed install is to be completed 2 weeks from today so i'll post up how the amp "should" sound if installed correctly. I have been told to expect a very slight "hiss" when the amp is on, and no audio being played. This has got me curious but i beleive i had the same on previous installs.

My reason for choosing the HD900/5 is that it fits in perfectly to the small section to the left of the battery without any modifications at all. It is the equivalent of a JL 500.1 slash amp, and a 300.4 combined in one chassis. It is expensive (got mine for around $880 AUD delivered to Australia) but worth it for space savings and supposedly being impervious to alternator whine.

I had a similar problem when mine was first put in.
The problem turned out to be the AudioControl unit.
There is a jumper setting inside for the ground.
Once we switched the jumper all the whine went away.
IDK if your is fixed or not but if any one else is running AudioControl you might want to try this.

mine is fixed, but not running an audiocontrol. Switch out for 360.1 but then decided to upgrade my amp to Zapco DC650 so no need to either. No noise in my system besides music!
