there was no SIB I'm aware of. I showed him the rubbing on my liner and after directing him to this post, he ordered the updated part. It seems like the SA can do it, but maybe it takes some extra work if there isn't a SIB.

My 1M went in for the UK security update on Monday this week. I mentioned when there that i get a rubbing or noise when on full lock reversing.

They reported back that the inner liners on the front arches need replacing and was done under warranty.

On the service document it states... B51.71.8.051.591 and .592 Unit price of £29.67GBP

Mine is lowered 1.2 inches with H&R race springs, and it still rubs..

Changed both of my front fender liners and I can confirm it does not rubs on stock wheels and tyres with 10mm spacers.

Interesting, because the front left also used to be indicated as part# 51 71 8 051 591 and the front right used to be part# 51 71 8 051 592, while RealOEM indicates part# 51 71 8 051 595 for front left and part# 51 71 8 051 596 for front right. Maybe those are the wheel housings for non 1M 1ers ? (see also part #1 in the figure below: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...61&hg=51&fg=70).

This seems confusing! I asked my local dealer about this and they have no news about this issue and are unwilling to replace the liners for me.

I need to order these parts online and get it replaced myself...

Does anyone know a way/place that I can order the correct parts I need?

I'm afraid if I just order the parts by part number that I will just end up with the original unrevised parts

The 1M fender liners are 2 pieces per side. The front section of the bumper is the revised part.

you are confusing the part numbers.

you need parts #4 and #10, not part #1, #1.

Phil at ReevesBMW sold me the revised parts. He ordered them from germany for me, which took about 7 days. The only way you will get the old part is if your parts source has the old parts in stock, which most parts suppliers will not.

You, Sir, are absolutely right.

My dad has the EXACT same issue. He will be going to the dealership regarding this issue soon. However it is weird because the problem only started this year, but he has this set for over 2 winters now... :S

Recently fitted the revised front arch liners on my 1M and I can now confirm that the OE front 19" wheels DO NOT RUB when fitted with the slightly wider 255/35x19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports!

In my book thats a win-win!

Chris

Can you tell how much you paid for the parts? I have a strong feeling that I will have a resistance from hillarious BMW dealer of Chile and just loose my time so it might be just easier to buy it.

Also, any chance I can install it myself (not-so-handyman level)?

EDIT: Checked the whole thread and found the answer about the price, nevermind.

Second question still valid though

they are $40 a side. you can easily replace them yourself. you need a socket wrench with an 8mm piece.

Thanks fellas. I have things to be installed at the indie shop anyway, this can be done at the same time then.

I also went to the dealer few days ago and told them about the noise. The guys searched in the Puma internal online system and found the issue listed. The part (right side only) was in stock and replaced immediately. As i saw with my own eyes there was a bigger gap from the factory fitted part. Quick test and noise dissappeared . Thanks to you guys that mentioned the issue .

I went also to the dealer but he said he didn't find a PUMA with this issue. Do anybody have a number or something?
