BMW approved winter tires / wheels?

I am picking my car up in mid Feb and am debating whether to get the recommended tire rack combo or -1 size BMW wheels and winter tires. My dealership doesn't yet know which wheels and tires exactly they have available which is odd.

Does anyone know what BMW recommends and how much it costs?

I live in Canada. I placed my order with Gill at tirerack.com on a Monday and they were here on the Wednesday afternoon! 2.5 days! Right to my door.

I put them on myself with all the guidance of the people here and my neighbour who had that breaker bar that saved my arm. (aluminum rims are fussy) and I could not be happier.

PS
Obviously Gill can help you with everything you need like finding a place to install for you too. Save lots of $$$$ and get nice rims and tires!

Gill please send the cheque to the usual place... (kidding I don't get anything other than the satisfaction of knowing I helped in your decision based on my endorcement for Gill at tirerack.com) If anything call him he really knows his tires and he also drives the same car as you!

Goodyear Eagle run flat DUGW's 17 in

...a little hard to find in Jersey so I drove to Ct today and had them installed on the old rims, with nitrogen. so far so good noce smooth ride and possibly traction in the snow. I had to go with the dealer on this one. Cost 271 mounted and installed per tire. another 100 buks for the nitrogen, to smooth out the ride.

A lot of people are ordering 18" CSL wheels with the winter tire of their choice. Majority go with the Bridgestone Blizzak and others go with the Dunlop SP Winter M3's.
