Show me pics of your factory tool Kit please

Hi folks,

I just happened to be poking around in the trunk last nite and took the tool kit out for a look see. Mine contains the tow hook and screwdriver, but there is one empty compartment in it. Reading through the manual later on, I see that an Allen wrench is necessary to manually open\close the sunroof should the motor\switch die. Confusingly however, the mention of the Allen key in the manual had the dreaded little asterisk next to it, denoting optional, special, or country-specific equipment, whereas the screwdriver did not.

Did your 135i coupe come with this Allen key? Thanks for any info,

ianc

Hmmm...tool kit? Haven't even looked at it since I took delivery in Munich! Cool...something else to explore this weekend. I did keep my German firstaid kit and warning triangle as well as Austrian required warning vest. Just fun stuff.

Mine has an allen wrench but it is to manually operate the convertible top.

I also added a tool roll. I hate not to have any tools in the car. So I carry a set of 1/4 and 3/8 sockets, combination wrenches, pliers, a screwdriver with a bunch of tips (torx are especially handy for the bimmer) and extensions and adapters. It will fit into the space for the toolkit close to the battery.

the 09 e92 didn't have the allen key either. The dealer said that now the sunroof can be opened by screwdriver.

Wow, I hope there is a hell of a gear train on that thing... closing a convertible top with an allen key seems really insurmountable. Especially if its starting to rain!

E92? I'm pretty much a BMW n00b, but I thought the coupe was the E82 and the cab was the E88; what's an E92?

Thanks Jim, but still looking for coupe owners to check in...

I got the First Aid kit and Warning Triangle, but not the warning vest! I did my ED in late November 2009. I haven't checked to see if I still have the tool kit or not, IIRC, it's the only item the BMW rep said didn't need to be removed before dropping off.

Speaking of tool kits.........I was over at realoemparts.com and it shows a nice(2) comprehensive tool kits with a few wrenches....etc.
Can we get those here in the states? Anyone have a BMW tool that they know of?

I added a warning triangle (there is a DIY thread), jump cables, plus vest and first aid kit I brought from Germany. I also carry a flashlight in the glovebox.

The roof just pulls over..The Allen key is just to lock it in place once closed..

Hey that's great you all have your emergency packs of girl scout cookies and all, but is there one cotton pickin' person with a 135i coupe who can answer my question?

What came in the FACTORY TOOL KIT?!

Ahem. Thanks...

If you mean 'factory tool kit' as in what comes with it from the factory (logical assumption): tow hook and screwdriver for the coupe

A wrench? Like... (wait for it) an ALLEN wrench?

Why is it so hard to get this question answered? Maybe I should just call my sales guy anyway... sigh...

My kit had the tow hook and screwdriver. Yes, there is an empty pocket, presumably for the allen key.

Are you really that bored that you'll chase a sales person for an allen key?

Yeah man! I just spent 40 large on a new car. If it's missing something from the tool kit, I want it. Is that strange to you?

Thanks for the info though...

Unless you live next door to the dealership, yes. Allen keys usually cost less than a buck.

I don't live far from the dealer, no. And it's not just any Allen key either...

I have a pretty good screwdriver selection as well, but if I was missing the one from the tool kit, I'd want that as well. Go figure eh?
