i'm interested. i assume the car is still under a lien? i've never bought a car with a loan on it from a private individual; what would the process be to complete the transaction? obviously the payment has to go to the lien holder and, in maryland, they then issue a lien release to go with the title so that the car can be transfered, but this usually takes a while (1-2 weeks).

The car has a lien. I've sold 5 other cars with a lien. Frankly, the seller takes the risk that the check will clear. So, we will have to work together to find a safe solution for both parties.

At least one local dealership can do the paperwork for about $200. I've not done this before, but is an option.

It would be ideal if you got the loan through my same credit union, www.penfed.org They have great rates and a quick loan process. 3.99 up to 60 months. a bit higher for 72 months.

Thanks for looking!

Its not that hard of a process, I bought my 1er that was being leased by a fellow 1addict. I essentially paid off his lease direct to BMW in his name.

However, the buyer takes all the risk. The seller is provided a cashiers check/money order by the buyer. The buyer has no recourse via that method of payment (its like cash). There is no risk for the seller as the car remains in the seller's name and doesn't change that until payment is received (instantly clears with cashiers check).

You get around this by drafting up legal documentation, bill of sale as well as a full agreement dictating terms, requirements of each party and recourse in the event a party fails to uphold their end. Up to you if you want to get a notary/lawyer involved.

I'm not sure about the seller takes no risk. if the check bounces then i have a car in my name, but no car. there are common check cashing fraud's out there that use these methods to steal cars.

that being said, legal documents are essential and i would prefer to be at the bank with the buyer when the check is drafted.

it's an easy process that I've done several times.

It's a great car, love to sell it to an enthusiast!

The in service date is 3/2008.

I have traded the tires for Yok sDrives. Although I do still have the front run flats with maybe 40% tread left.

I didn't care for the sport seats. Great for track junkies, but they were uncomfortable for me as a daily driver. Bluetooth can be added with third part accessories, such as a portable Garmin GPS. I don't think it can be added as a BMW OEM accessory.

Thanks for the quick reply, will pass the info on.

Good call on replacing the RFTs, just did that on mine and wish I had done it sooner.
