License Plate Frames
I just got my plates and need to mount them to the sled. Anyone know of a place to get nice looking, but relatively inexpensive license plate frames? I am loathe to the idea of spending $50 per frame for the BMW parts. I have seen plenty on eBay for dirt cheap, but they're straight off the boat from China and will probably give my car cancer or something . Also, what color frames do you think look best on LMB? Thanks for the input.

skip the front plate! i don't know how good the license plate enforcement is where you live (in my mom's house, but she lives in NJ), and i've been omitting the front plates in NJ for almost a decade with no fines. it's the ULTIMATE cosmetic modification!

Anyway, back to the original query, what do you guys think looks best on the Le Mans Blue? Polished steel? Carbon? Black? Some kind of smoke color? I had a Lightning Blue Saab Viggen (which is very similar in color to my 135) several years ago and I had a smoke color plate frame on the rear, which looked awesome. Thoughts? |

There ARE cheap BMW plate frames- the slimline black or chrome are well priced (carbon is overpriced though)
Look at United BMW online or just PM Dan@unitedBMW - he may even get you a discount on both front and back plate frames! http://www.unitedbmwonline.com/catal...esult/?q=plate |

frames
Hi how is the quality of United's frames?
I don't want any rust etc. I'm also looking for the best quality carbon rear spoiler & wondering if the 2011 128i e82 has clear front euro "turn signal" cover. The orange is killing me! Thanks! Kyt |

I went through about three different black frames from auto parts stores before I went for the plain black BMW slimline frame. The quality, sturdiness and fitment is so much better, I'm really happy with it. I see you can even get a limited edition carbon fiber frame with the BMW performance logo.. for the bargain price of $110

Right now I'm rocking the frameless look, but I've been considering a frame. Right now the only frame I have for the car is the VMR Wheels frame that they gave me when I bought my 19's from them. I haven't put it on the car yet, mainly because the bottom of the frame covers the tags on the plate itself.

Another vote for the BMW slimline. I've used them on my last few BMWs and even non-BMWs. I've tried some other high end plate frames (Griots, etc), but I prefer the $30 BMW slimline.
I ran frame less for a while, and even though I like the simple look, I usually close the trunk by pushing on the plate and without a plate frame, the license plate flexes a lot and starts to bend. The plate frame stiffens it up and makes it feel real solid when pushed upon. I don't like a plate frame on the front of the car. |
