Limp Mode- No CEL
So I've done some searching but every thread I come across doesn't ever give a solution. My vehicle is a 2008 135i. Mods are intercooler, downpipes, axle back exhaust, dci intakes, Cobb off the shelf map stage 2+ sport LT. Driving home from work yesterday it was building post fine. Then I started accelerating from a red light, around 50% throttle and the dreaded half engine light popped up. I plugged in my access port when I got home and had the codes:
P30FF H2AAF H2FDB H2FDA I checked vacuum lines and charge pipe and inter cooler piping for leaks and there was nothing. I reset the ECU and now there are no codes but my car is still in limp mode... Does this sound like the HPFP? It was replaced 28,000 miles ago. Help me diagnose my vehicle, if I missed anything let me know. Sorry for the novel |

Btw I was watching my psi on access port and it will not go above 0. My guess is that I limp mode, waste gates are completely open to prevent you from building boost. Also my hpfp number on accessport was 750-850. Not sure how that number is measured

30FF is boost leak. You have an air leak somewhere. This code is legit, I passed it off for almost a year, but when I pulled my intercooler off, found a missing o-ring. I really was leaking air. My recommendation is double checking all the work you've had garages do.

I do a pressure test as soon as I get back into town. I'll keep this updated and post the solution when I find it.
Update: boost leak test came out fine. No leaks Last edited by tglazed; 10-26-2014 at 04:48 PM.. |

I don't know, but that's a good question. If one were working, and the other one quit, I suspect you could get partial boost from one turbo. But that's pure speculation. Do you have a boost gauge? If so, are getting any boost at all, or are you in a state of vacuum at all times?

I was using my accesport as my boost gauge. So I am not sure how accurate it is but I am pretty sure it is accurate seeing that my bov isn't even going off and I can't hear my turbos at all. It's not getting over 0 though. It's like both wastegates are open all the time. Not sure if it does this in limp mode?
