Radar detector now legal for use in Oz
Just found this: http://www.theracingroom.com.au/Docu...ctSheet(1).pdf
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it functions as a GPS also. |

Disclaimer: The use of the radar and laser detection features may be illegal in some States. Check applicable laws before using. Beltronics or its Agents cannot be held liable for the illegal use of radar and laser detection features by an owner, in jurisdictions where it is prohibited.
It sounded too good to be true |

I took a look at trapster and dismissed it. relies on information being updated and relevant, which isn't something I'd trust.
Instead I trust the fact I know what the speed limit is on the road I'm on at the time, and keep under it by usage of my feet applied to the relevant pedals. |

Trapster becomes more accurate the more people use it and report traps. It is got to be the best we have that is legal and better than flashing headlights. If you got a smartphone then please use it (free) and participate.

I had a look at Trapster and wasn't too impressed. I'm thinking it's possibly because we're based in Brisbane and not many people use it so the info is outdated and unreliable. I also found that Trapster drained my iphone battery way too fast and I'm doing everything I can to preserve it! |

I find Trapster is good, mainly for traffic. My commute to work and back is a shit-fight to say the least in the car, and hardly get above 40km/h.
Otherwise, I check the RTA's website for main arterial traffic and decide that way. I used Trapster for a while, and yes you do have to rely on others being accurate and updating, you also have to remember to do it yourself. I found it was good for general warnings (where cops 'often' hide as a reminder to check your speed), but way better than being caught with an illegal radar detector. |

Beltronics has one such version: http://www.beltronics.com/rx45/ Problem of course is that it is not portable if you have more than one car. The portable Beltronics STi Driver is the only undetectable radar detector on the market, invisible to radar detector detectors. I think there is a wired in version of it as well.
