Please if you dont have any thing constructive to say about "watching videos on he move" on this thread, dont post!

If you really want to comment and alert other people on the cons of watching such things while driving, post it on another thread dedicated to such a topic. This way, only people who have such a view will have a dedicated thread to express the dangers invovled in watching a dvd while driving.

I don't have a stand on either side of that argument, but it seems to me that the point would be lost if the non-fans started a separate thread instead of posting in this one...

everyone has a right to post an opinion/idea that is what the forums are all about. Heck we would be deleting half the posts if they were on 'on topic'

now back to topic I'm a fan of it - which I know how I could talk the dealer here into showing me how to change it like the EU spec cars.

BTW anyone own a BMW K1200 series? ( I know new thread - planning it) thx

If someone is looking over the wiring diagrams, I wonde if there is an input to the idrive from the parking brake, that would sound the most logical to me.

the problem is if the input to the idrive from the parking break also triggers that sensor that was found - the car will still warn you that the ebrake is on when you start driving.

Since other countries don't have this limitation, maybe we should approach it from a software point of view. BMW must have a toggle code that turns it off.

the ebrake switch goes to the JBE. the instrument cluster goes to the JBE. there isn't a direct connection between the ebrake switch and CID/CIC. i'm a little confused, this is gonna take me awhile.

I want this feature, not for watching movies while driving myself, but for 2 things.

1. I think it would be really cool to let a passenger watch a movie while I drove a long drive. I could still enjoy the audio of the film.

2. Secondly, DVDs set to music would also be fun for driving. Snowboarding movies with nice soundtracks would be pretty sick, maybe a dvd of music videos

Not every video while in motion person wants to watch a feature length film while driving.

Also, how often do you hang out in your car while its in park...

when I went to Kuwait last year in my E46 I had an Alpine W202 and on the way back to Saudi, a 400 km 3 hours drive, my cousin a passenger was watching a movies the whole journey back , and I didn't even once look at the screen. If you want to be distracted by something you will be wither its the movie or changing settings on the Audio ....etc, if you know you are the type that gets distracted or watch while driving then don't do it. I'm really interested if somebody finds a way , cause I think even here in Saudi we will have the same restriction , will have to wait until the car comes to confirm

lets see, I'm driving and want to add a destination or a new destination into the navi.. again driving... that's more distracting than watching a DVD - don't you think?

turn controller as I glance to drive and watch what alpha letter I'm looking for.. LOL

I don't think the car will allow you to add a new destination while driving. I never tried...

Except for the fact that its an older thread and most are 08 owners looking for the same solution but to a totally different head unit/idrive system.

Right?

CORRECTION: Its not, its about the 09's and there are better answers in that thread.
