Towards the center of the car, near kidneys.

I found it helpful to remove the plastic access panel located in the front wheel fender liner.

Ugh, I just ordered a set even though I had just bought 4150K. I think I'll wait a few months to install it so I don't feel so bad.

Just installed mine this morning, overall I have to say they make a vast improvement over stock. It took me about 20 minutes overall, 17 of which were nerve wrecking. As people say the passenger side is the hardest I figured well ill try this side and if I don't feel comfortable ill take my losses and run.
Getting the cover off, easy. Replacing the bulb, easy. Accidentally knocking the cover off completely and freaking out about getting it back, hard. I finally got the cover locked into place and sealed good only to find the latch on the left side of the housing came unmatched on the bottom. Had to pull the cover off, again, and reattach the latch. Got the cover back on correctly and latched it into place.
As I have an IS with ppk installed you get a nice little black box conveniently located right behind the driver side headlamp (made this a bitch). Popped off the latches and very carefully tilted the cover backwards, removed the bulb and replaced with the new one. Got the cover back on and latched down. Never have I had to work in such a tight place, I don't know how the guys with adaptive xenons can work and get the ballasts in there. I have larger hands and definitely have some battles scars after today's install.
Would I do it again, yes. Would I find someone locally to install then for me next time, absolutely.
Now the important part, PICTURES! I only took 2 as it is almost 11am but I hope to take some more later tonight. If anyone has any questions let me know.

I had "battle scars" also after installing mine, not the easiest of tasks. I hope the bulbs last as I don't see myself doing it again anytime soon.

Angel eyes look fantastic! Wait until it gets a bit darker outside, I think you'll be very pleased. They also seem to match the eyebrow perfectly.

After turning the car on and leaving it running for a little the lights definitely seemed to get brighter. I can't wait to see the real results tonight.

Sweet!

Just finished installing mine. I couldn't be happier.

For you guys who are having a difficult time with the covers, just order some led angel eyes from Burger. After you deal with the flickering, not working altogether, door ajar alarms, and windows cycling up/down non-stop you'll get quite adept at taking the covers on and off (two sets, Burger/N54 tuning were super to work with during this btw.)

Here's a daylight (under carport) pic of PIAA vs factory:

Some pics from the garage, need to go out for a ride to snap some more.

Much brighter and whiter than stock. They are definitely not LED bright but I knew that before hand. Still very pleased with the results.

Looks great mate. You are right about the brightness. It is not much brighter than stock (since stock vs. PIAA are the same wattage) but they really knock the piss yellow out of the equation. And that is what I was after. Perhaps a 40W would fix this but I did not want to mess with that.

That being said, who will buy the Phillips 5000K bulbs and test those out?

These were the cheapest Phillips I could find. I was going to try them but I just wanted to get the bulbs that I knew the results of.

I was able to find a picture of the Philips 5000K Diamond Vision H8 bulbs installed on a 7-series:

It appears that just like the PIAA 4800K bulbs, these are not available in the European and North American market, so eBay will be our best bet if anyone wants to give these a try.

If that ebay seller ever puts more up, go ahead and buy them. I didn't expect to get them for a few days and they were in my mailbox today.

Garage List
2011 135i  [0.00]
Installed them today, took me 2 hours aprox( that cover the second an third time is a pain), at first they were not evenly lit; but after a couple of tries they were good to go. I'm mechanically challenged! They look good, makes me wonder about the cheaper Philips 5k .. If the Philips look similar I'll go with the cheaper ...

Have you noticed they go slightly brighter once they are "warmed up"?

We have two members who bought them. I'm curious to see how they compare...
