Yes.I guess E Bay is my only choice,in the E92 forum most are pre LCI's and sold in pairs only. Its like $195 on E Bay for a OEM.

You could try Dan@United or Jason@Tischer. Or different dealer near you. I assume you don't want your dealer to know about the damage.

You are 100% right, dealer uses my insurance policy for the loaner and the deductible is $500.00. I am better of just replacing the darn thing,if I could only get a used tail light.......Does not needs re-coding I imagine?

Tail lights don't need recoding. I picked up two used oem taillights for my 135. Installed no problem. Only thing was one of the assemblies didn't come with all the bulbs. But that is easily remedied. Could probably even pull them from the damaged unit (depending on how badly damaged).

I only damaged the outer red plastic lens, the housing and the bulbs are perfect. Wonder if BMW sells as a part by itself, the outside lens?

Might be a bit of a risk to talk to the dealer about it, but it may also work out okay for you - obviously they can replace it for cheaper than what you can buy the part for. Maybe they will be cool about it and only charge you their cost on the part.

Highly unlikely, this kind of thing is always an "assembly".
Call your local junkyards, they might have one. Have to find one that has some 3-series in their yards though. Ebay may be a good choice too. Look for a buy-it-now auction and ask about fast shipping, if your'e on a deadline. Also agreed about going to the dealer, given the cost of 1-er tail lights, the more common 3-series might not be bad. Dealer cost will be lowish too. They are probably used to fixing things like this on their loaners all the time, it's not like they are going to beat you with a baseball bat. |
