tii badge...???
Since theres been so much heated debate about badges recently, i thought i'd throw one more log onto the fire.... What about removing the 128/135 badge, and replacing it with just a "tii" badge. I'm not sure what i think about this to be honest. I think it'd be cool because if we ever get those tii-concept car performance parts here in the US, then it's a legit badge to put on the car. I did a quick mock-up...
Thoughts, anyone? |

Yeah, it just looks kind of lonely and unprofessional there. Something about the staggered lettering of the badge doesn't sit right with me either... just my opinion It may be a badge that would look better behind the front wheel on the quarter panel somewhere.

BMW has chosen the monikers 128i and 135i as the badge for the car of our attention. Some stuck-on sticky will not alter what the thing is.

I'll echo other's sentiments about not badging cars what they aren't... If you saw a cute girl in a club with a tight shirt on that read "D Cups Inisde" but she was flat as a pancake, wouldn't you laugh? Maybe that's a stretched reference...

This is Chris, I began this thread. I've read through everyone's comments, and i'm alittle confused at the overall consensus (both in this thread, and throughout many other threads) that "if BMW didn't do it, you shouldnt". Isn't the vast majority of this website devoted to people who love their BMW's, and ALSO love modifying/personalizing their cars in ways that BMW did not particularly intended? And for that matter, the spark for this idea of the "tii" badge was born out of all of the hype around BMW's "tii" concept, which is based on the 135i. I guess i've just got to get used to the thought-process of the posters on this site...???

There is certainly a vocal purist group on this forum (same comments always comes up about putting M badges on), which is fine, but you should feel free to do what yo want with your car. I mean let's face it, half of those telling you not to put the badge on probably have some form of beige interior
Personally I don't think your mockup looks that great where it is, but that's my opinion, and you should do what you want. I do however like the tii badge on the front right bumper, if you want to do it, make it REAL !!

The Tii parts are currently available now. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to put the badges/decals on if you reproduce portions of that car. (body kit would be a minimum)
In the long run, it's your car to do whatever you want with though. If you enjoy it, who gives two flying $%^&$ what we think? |

It would only be OK if BMW somehow sanctioned it. They could do that by including the badge with the purchase of certain performance parts. Now that would be a very clever marketing decision by BMW. Encourage people to buy a bunch of extra parts to get the badge that signifies that they are part of an even more exclusive club.
