EBC Red Brake Pads?

Anyone using them? Have used EBC before and they were top quality.

I really like their yellow stuff for track. The only experience I have with the red is on my wife's x5 rear brakes. So far they work really well, low dust,no noise and bite as well as oem. As soon as the fronts go I'll replace them with reds also.

I've got yellows on my car right now. Had to put them in for 2 track days as my oems were shot. They held up fine on the track(not an expert driver) but they squeak a good bit on the street. When I did my change I did not put in new rotors just pads and from what I can tell the yellow pads are slightly larger than the oem. The oem wore a beveled edge on the inner diameter of the rotor that these pads are hitting. This is where my squeaking is coming from I believe. EBC makes good pads and I would not hesitate recommending them with the exception of my above experience. Hopefully that beveled edge wears down and the squealing goes away.

I currently have the red stuff pads for just street use. I love them. Low noise, low dust. I have no complaints so far. If I were to do it again, id still go with the reds.

Is the initial bite as good as OEM pads? How are they holding up? Have you ever run the Cool Carbon pads? If so how do those compare to the Reds?

Can anyone else confirm this? Not that I doubt it. A low dust pad that bites well AFAIK will also be more destructive to the rotor. If it bites well something has to be getting destroyed. It'll either be the pad or the rotor.

Yellows are good intermediate track pad. You will boil your fluid before you cook these. Down side is they squeal and eat up rotors more then oem.

The more a pad bites the more it will eat away at rotors. BMW rotors are known for being soft and wearing fast and can't be turned. It's part of their braking system and works directly with their pad type. Stick an aggressive aftermarket pad on and it won't act the same as.

If you are worried about rotor wear, pick up some aftermarket rotors with a higher spec like g3500, or have your rotors cryogenically treated which supposedly increase durrability. Otherwise enjoy the redstuff, as is they will perform better then stock.

Yes the EBC reds are hard on rotors. I've used them extensively on multiple cars including an e46 and an e90. In fact they were my only pad I used for years including for the track (they held up better than stock but are not a track pad). They are low dust and hold up well. Pedal pressure is a bit higher than stock pads though.
