COBB Datalog N55 @ Stage 1+FMIC Sport (Now with PTF eTune)

Hi -

I finally found a time and place to collect datalogs for the car since I installed the COBB tune. Below are what I believe to be relevant details about the car and a link to the datalogs. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on issues / concerns and anything I could do to correct (with or without planned future custom tune).
  • 2011 135i w/ 17,000km
  • COBB Stg 1+FMIC Sport V2.00
  • 3/8 tank of Esso 91 octane gas
  • ER FMIC / CP, BMS OCC, Maddad Street Series Axleback; rest of engine stock
http://www.datazap.me/u/bbursey/cobb...port-w-17000km

Please let me know if I've missed logging any parameters or you see any issues. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Bryan

Looks like you have some throttle closures due to slightly overshooting the requested load value. This is very common and I notice it as well on my stage 1 + aggressive tune. It looks like on logs 3 and 4 cylinder 3 has the most amount of timing correction at around -4. I am pretty sure this amount is OK, but will be curious what others say.

You have couple throttle closure due to overboosting (will need some fine tuning to fix that).
You also have a lot of timing drops (when was the last time you changed spark plugs?)

Hi Mike -

The car is 3 1/2 years old, but with only 17,000km, I hadn't contemplated replacing the spark plugs yet. If plugs were the issue, would infrequent use and short trips (with occasional, but longer weekend blasts) account for their early demise?

Cheers,
Bryan

I would address the boost control issues first and see how the timing looks then. Over boosts cause the throttle plate to modulate and that causes turbulence in the incoming air charge and that can have negative effects on timing.

Thanks Allen. I'm looking forward to an eTune from PTF in the near future.

Along same lines as OP, I have just installed an ER FMIC, ER Charge Pipe, and BMS Oil Tstat bypass on my 2011 135i 6-speed MT.

I now run the Cobb OTS Stage 1+FMIC aggressive map, since I have easy access to 94 Octane gasoline here in Canada.

I find that the power delivery is strong but not as linear as I would like.

Earlier this year, I installed a Quaife 3.46 FD LSD on my car, and really like the predictable behavior of my 135i on the track (lapping) and on the street.

I run a 255/35R18 Dunlop Direzza ZII square tire setup.

Before I move forward with a custom tune , I wanted to confirm that a custom e-tune with above setup will make a large difference.

With the 94 octane fuel I use, and limited bolt ons I have, is the e-Tune really worth it in terms of gains and smooth delivery?

Now with PTF eTune

After sending the initial logs off to PTF, I finally had a chance to collect new logs running V1 of their eTune for my car.

Please had a look and let me know what you think!

Cheers,
Bryan
