WOT heard small pop and loss of power - help

Just on way back home last night was WOT in 3rd IIRC, and let off, when I went back on it the power was all gone.

There was no limp mode or complaint from the idrive, everything in the car check was green and ok.

When I put my foot down it basically sounded like there was no resistance and everything spooled fast but nothing power wise. The car still drove along but I limped it home and since it was super dark waited till this morning to have a better look in the engine bay.

The chargepipe and intake looked alright the clamps still looked connected. I wonder if its a seal or something that went.

I noticed there is some oil leaking around the block it looks like.It has me worried as I've been getting the squealing noise that is common from the rear/front main crank seal. Though I'm not sure if this is related or not. I've been having to put about a bottle every 2 weeks ( though I've been driving very much WOT often, and working the car hard) Been filling up with the bmw oil from dealer, 0w30 i think LL-01.

On a closer look to the hose going to what I think is the fmic VRSF 5" , that I had a local shop install one of the clamps looks like its not seated correctly.

If this is the cause of my troubles, what is the best way to get access to this so I can re-tighten it and seat it properly.

I've included a few pictures

Thanks

check your FMIC connections. If it's spooling but no boost, you're leaking pressure before it gets to the manifold.

Just an update on this, took it to the shop that installed the inter-cooler and they readjusted a bunch of hoses and clamps ( didn't charge me thankfully).

Well the main leak seems to be gone but now I'm really getting a loss of power in the top end, like around 4500-5500rpm the power really falls off. Noticeable from before when it was working fine. So it sounds like something is still wrong and there is another smaller leak somewhere maybe?

I've basically had it with this car, I'm so frustrated and annoyed right now. Feel like I've spent all this money on modding it and it feels like a complete waste. If I'm completely honest I didn't notice much if anything at all from installing the chargepipe, intake, intercooler, and downpipe. Faster spool-up and more noise(in and out) but in terms of power it didn't feel much of an increase over stock parts. The Jb4 and then going to ISO firmware made the biggest difference. With the ISO update and power increase is when i started having issues with the car too.

The shop i took it to is nice and seemingly did good work but clearly my car is still acting up and I need to find another place to go.

We have 2 dealerships in town and they are both worthless, I'm now trying to find another shop but most of the good ones with a nice reputation only deal with OEM and wont even look at a tuned car. Sigh

Check your rear turbo inlet pipe. I had similar issues, that solved it.

Any codes thrown? Will your shop do a boost leak check?

Thanks for replies, I will look into those things in AM.

The only codes I saw when i checked with the carly app for bmw, was something with a diverter valve dont recall seeing a description, and an ambient temp sensor ( which was recently replaced) so i cleared that one.

Good news is I found a reputable highly recommended mechanic that is able to take a look at my car tomorrow evening and diagnose it. So I will be dropping it off with him and he will have a look.

My local shop has treated me very well and I cannot fault them but I think they really are more suited for vw and audi cars as their specialty. Nice guys but I'm not sure I'm doing myself any favors by going back there.

Cheers for the tips.

Yep , I threw money down the drain at the dealer, they did a diagnostic because I was having the squealing chirping noise under braking that is common with the pcv system and the front/rear main crank seal.

They ended up finding 'nothing wrong' and that to go further would require removal of all of my mods...

Honestly, bolt ons don't really do much for the N55 unless you upgrade the turbo.

I wish I knew that beforehand dude... I swear I've read countless posts of people with FBO n55 that are happy... maybe I'm imagining things.

To be fair, there's probably an issue as well. Have you updated the Jb4 firmware? Could also use the N55 Ppk as a back end for the jb4.
