IRAQ!!

So guys...today I found out that I am going to Iraq for 7 months in August. The thing is...I have 330 on order. It is slated to be on the May production schedule...scheduled for delivery in California in July/August which means I won't get to drive it until April of next year!!

So my question is this. What would you do? Wait to buy the 335 in April 07 or stick with the 330 and lose the $2000 deposit?

Let me go back and look at the paperwork...since the car hasn't started production yet it may only be $50 bucks....

I assume that you are in the military. If you present your orders to the dealership, they will have no alternative to refund your deposit.
Give em' hell and come back safe to which ever car you decide to buy.

If your sales rep is not sufficiently respectful of your military service to offer to delay your order, then give us his/her name and we will make it right.

I'm military too, Cali is pretty good with military rights on stuff like that. If they give you a hard time I think your local news station would love to hear about it and probably the Better Biz. Bureau too.

I'm in the Military too. Tell them about the Soldiers and sailors Act. They'll refund your money. Show your orders. :rocks:

I just went by the dealerships and we worked out something most excellent. I am going to transfer my funds to purchase a 335 from the same dealer.

I won't get to drive it until Apr 2007 but at least I have something cool to look forward to when I come back...

Why would you order the car knowing you most likely will go to Iraq for police duties? I do know that there is a 330i, sitting at the dealership down the street waiting for a guy that is in Iraq. They just kept if for him in storage for free. Why don't you still buy it and it will be something to look forward to? The 335 will probably be quite a bit more money and who really knows.

I had no idea that I was going to Iraq. All I knew was that I had orders to Sunny San Diego

The Military is notorius for changing things at the last minute - I had no way to predict. As for the money, I am not really worried about it. The 335 will be about 6k more I think. I can save that much in a year.

Since your going to Iraq, you qualify for military sales program. It's simple and a significant discount. Let me know if you want more info.

My .02 cents...
Why not get your money back and then:
1.order the car when you are a couple of months from returning
2.order the car {the 335 or a fresh 330 or 328} when you get back so you can drive it first.

Why should they hold your $2K. Put $500 down and get it in writing that it is refundable.
