Pic Request: Shadow Line Vs. Chrome Trim

Could anyone please get some close up pictures of the shadowline trim or the chrome trim?

I want to get the M Sport package on my car but I'm not sure if the shadowline will look better than the regular chrome.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can actually choose not to have it... did you ask the dealership yet?

try going to the canada forum and lookng at the new owner who has a white with the sports package.

Yes I think I like the chrome trim better as well, but in Aust we get shadowline and don't have a choice. Doesn't worry me either way.

I agree... It doesn't work as well with some other colors. Easy enough to change though; unlike the anthracite headliner that BMW won't allow here.

IMO, Chrome is better for dark colors, Shadowline for lighter colors.

No chrome, please

I'm getting a "dark color," Sparkling Graphite Metallic, and I much prefer the Shadowline aesthetic. Maybe it's the Batmobile I never had.

For anyone panting after chrome on a BMW, however, you can always dream....

I'm not a chrome guy, but I think the chrome trim looks much better imo. The black one looks cheapish, but I'll need to see it more to gauge my perspective. I may grow to love iT!

Great-looking SGM! I'm officially jealous, TP_135i.

To my eye, the Shadowline approach throws the visual emphasis on lower, longer, functional design elements like the wheels and the head- and taillights -- instead of emphasizing the taller, narrower window area.

Every car has windows; so what? Here the visual impact is centered on the stuff that works.

Shadowline also lets the sheet metal take more of the spotlight, and, as your photo illustrates, that's pretty nice sheet metal.

I prefer the Shadow Line because it looks more sporty. But both look good and it's your choice at the end.

I think the shadow trim on the 1 is a very sporty look. I have shadow trim on my Civic (which is strange), but to me (or IMO) it just looks plain. I ended up going with the chrome for my little 1, because I wanted it to look a little more classy. There is no wrong choice though!

The chrome isnt really a chrome on the 1er, its more of a brushed aluminum look.

Unless the one I saw was treated with something that had made it hazy. If that makes sense.

The user is from Italy ("kompey"). In Europe you still have the choice between Chrome Trim and Shadowline even you have the M Sport package (I'm not quite sure about the US).
