N55 Dyno

I am alittle confused at the results, and looking for advice...

2012 (Build 04/11) 135i 6MT
Mods:
JB4 Stage 2 on Map 7 17.5 psi spike, 15 psi hold
102 Octane Fuel
Megan Racing catless Downpipe
BMS intake
Muffler Delete
VRSF Charge pipe

Tested on a 4 month old, Dynojet Dyno

Weather: 19* C, 40% humidity, pulls done in 5th gear

Made 3 runs: Run 1 Map 7- 349 Hp and 451 Ftlbs of torque, Run 2 Map 5 348 Hp, 430 Ft Lbs of toque (got wheel spin) Run 3 Map 7-356 Hp 498 ftlbs of torque. All figures have been converted from PS and Nm to HP and TQ.

The 3rd run I didn't get any wheel spin. I did not log the runs via JB4. A/F ratios were stable, (14.0-12.8 at max rpm) fthough not displayed on the graph.

I am told my torque numbers are very high given my mods, thoughts?

n55 makes awesome tq #'s for sure, because we have 1 snail vs 2, the hp #'s will always be lower than the n54 guys...even so, faster off the line...the tq doesnt shock me at all. i ran something like 320 whp and 360lbft with a dinan stage 2 tune and catless etc etc etc mods in 98 degree heat on 100% humidity day...w 2 terrible pulls by a lazy tech...sigh

Would you not do dyno runs in 4th gear in a 6MT? Or is 5th closer to 1:1?

Just a little advice.
Changing maps on the fly and doing dyno pulls with a JB4 would give inaccurate results since the JB4 needs time to adjust.
This is why map 1 outperformed map 2 ( the Jb4 did not have time to adjust on map 2).

I ran in map 7. I tried map 5 and the power dropped significantly. Switched back to map 7 and I regained the power and a little increase in torque. The shop checked my ECU and they are gonna try a flash tune. Since my car is a 04/11 build, they think they can tune it.

Note: i ran my car in map 7 for the drive there (1 hour) and then it went straight on the dyno. My first run was 360 hp and 458 ftlbs of torque. That may be my most accurate reading.

You going to try the flash with the jb4 or without? Also are you running jb4 ISO?

Flash. Tune without the jb4. I'm getting tired of some of the jb4 issues. Like limp mode during racing or fuel load up when doing pulls on the autobahn. When I lift and roll back into the throttle, it's starts to stutter. I'm looking for more reliable power, not necessarily more power.

Me personally I'm waiting for Dinan's N55 tune to come down to N54 pricing. Yea it's still more expensive than JB4, Cobb, etc but at least it works trouble free on the 2012+ N55.

Happens on unleaded, or are you running ethanol? Also, have you posted your issues and logs on N54tech? Sorry if you already answered this, but are you running JB4 ISO?

in any case, interested to see what the results are when you go flash only.

I don't blame you. slim pickin for 2012+ N55. And even though the JB4 has been reliable for me so far, I would only be comfortable running it with the back end flash to make sure the DCT is seeing higher loads. BMS says its not required on the stock turbo, and I believe it, but being able to load the flash is personal piece of mind for my DCT.

the other thing that sucks is even with the Dinan tune, you are stuck running unleaded. Completely fine, but if you wanted to play with E30-E50, JB4 is the only way that I am aware of for 2012+.

I can't believe they still are charging $2k for stage 2.

No ethanol. Non ISO. And unleaded fuel is all you can buy so I'm not sure why you made this comment lol. I was running European 102 octane ( us 98). It doesn't matter which map I run I get the stumbles. It does it if I shift too fast as well. I will have tons of dyno runs post flash tune to show results. They are promising me 400 ps with there flash. We will see!

Typically the Euro 102 RON fuels have a Motor Octane number of around 90.
This would give them an "american" octane of 96 AKI. (RON+MON)/2 = AKI

US 93 is roughly 98 'Euro'

Have you posted your logs of the jb4? That shouldn't be happening. Once you figure that out I'll bet it will run better. I wouldn't count it out. I Would suggest switching to iso. Are you sure you have the correct firmware loaded to the jb4? Map 5 needs 3 good 3rd gear pulls from 2k rpm to 6500 rpm to adjust.

You can't get there from here. If you are going to switch maps on the dyno you need to start in Map 5 because it needs to adjust you your engine. If you started the dyno session in Map 7 you lost all of Map 5's settings.

Try 3 WOT runs 2500RPM in 2nd through the shift into 4th to get it pretty close to optimum.
