Wheels & tires for square setup

Currently running this square setup:

18x8 ET 40 - O.Z. Ultraleggera
235/40/18 - Nitto NT01

Car is a 2008 135i. TC-Kline double adjustable shocks, springs and camber plates.
2 degrees camber all around. Fenders are rolled.

I'd like a bit more rubber while maintaining a square setup. 245 would be nice, 255 would be great! Also, 17" would be awesome!

Questions:
1. What wheel size, offset and optional spacers do I need to be able to run wider tires?
2. What size tires to go with that?

Thanks!

Easiest square with decent tire is 255 all around with ET40 on 8.5 wheel. You will need to roll rear fenders slightly and at least -2* of camber up front. If you are looking for a track set up my old wheels are for sale. 17x8.5 ET40 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666164 Make an offer if you are interested.

Slightly off topic question, but you seem uniquely qualified to answer. Do you think that I could run 17"x 8.5, ET 40 with 225/45 tires without any modifications to the car or alignment?
Thanks for your input.

Depending on the tire it will have a stretch to it but it will work without doing any camber or rolling of fenders.

Great and timely thread for me!

I'm looking at a new set of rims and tires and would also like to know if these would rub with a slightly lower suspension (<1" front and back) and stock alignment (maybe some moderate camber).
Rims: D-Force LTW5
Front: 17x8.0, ET40, 225/45
Rear: 17x8.5, ET40, 245/40

This is a street setup that may see a Autocross or two during the year.

Thanks for the input. It is a set of Kosai 17"X 8.5" wheels with Continental DWS 225/45 tires. They are left over from a Z4 that we no longer own. I would use them only for the occasional snow we have here in Albuquerque. Otherwise I'm using 18"x8" Breyton wheels with 225/40 Contintntal DW in each corner. A set up I really like.
