did I damage the engine ?

Yesterday a "friend" of mine asked to see my new e90.
He sat in started the engine and took off flooring the accelerator.
He hit 5,500rpm. I immediatelly told him to stop.
I am worry because the engine was cold. I already have
passed the break-in (I am at 5K miles).
Should I worry of possible engine damages ?

And find yourself a new friend.

Better yet... why not "try out" his wife or girlfriend? Make sure you red line her and then give her back to him all sweaty with a smile on her face.

fuckin idiot!! Did u yell at him?? My friend did that before my break-in period ended and I almost kicked his ass. Those kind of people have no respect for anything. They think a test drive is when u just beat the shit out of the car. I get annoyed just thinkin about it.

Moral of the story, don't let someone drive your car unless you've warmed up the car, are past break in, and have their GF/Wifes phone number.

Why is it titled "Did I Damage the Engine" when it was really your friend? Just a thought

I'd love to learn about how to redline her. In many situations, I want to do it to my friends. but I would draw the line when it comes to wife .

Back to topic. If it is a Yugo, yes you will have problems. IF BMW, you will be OK for sure.

Im sure nothing will happen. I do it to my car all the time. It only have around 1400 miles on it. Maybe because its a lease car . One of the reason why I prefer lease over buy but lets stay on topic.

Dont worry about it....your engine is "A" - ok...When I picked up my car in Munchen a few weeks ago...we did the factory tour and we saw them testing each and every car, we were told that each engine is checked to redline more then once....so everything is going to be fine with your car.....I took mine on the Autobahn and did 140MPH more then once...and got somewhere in the high RPM range...no problems....

Good Luck

everyone here posting with concern for the motor or claiming that the friend is inconsiderate are completely wrong,

5500 rpm is stil 1500 away from the redline

you can run the car at redline for long periods of time without damaging the engine.

if your friend ran the car past redline somehow, then you've got a complaint

Man Ledzep I love you man! Always with the greatest replies. Still if he has no wife or g/f, he needs to redline his friend's sister.
