Correct,

Catless would need o2 sims (Race Use Only) and the Catted will not. We have a good CEL count inside the catalytic converter which should be perfect. All cars are a little different but we have fixes for all.

You are correct. Bigger is always better with turbo.

But the OEM BMW system is not 2.5". These are German cars remember? 63.5mm is an "odd" size for them (same goes for the Jap cars).

The 135i system is a dual 60mm into a single 70mm. 2.375" and 2.75" respectively are close US equivalents.

They don't taper at all. It's a straight 60mm (2.375") shot right at the ends of the stock cat/DP flanges. The rest of the stock cats/DP's are stamped sheetmetal which aren't exactly round at all.

Where did you get 1.75"???

Wow,

Have you taken off your stock downpipes before? Have you seen the amount of crush bends there are on the stock downpipes? There is a reason gains of 20-30whp come from catless or catted downpipes. The stock downpipes crush to UNDER 2" close to the turbo flange. Look inside the downpipe and you will see for yourself. Anybody that has changed their downpipes can chime in and give their feedback. If the stock downpipes were 2.375" throughout, they would be a great design. Unfortunately, they're not.

Catted DPs have less noise. You must realize the videos you hear are like this

Forward of the cats it's all stamped parts. It's not tube at all. Yes, I've removed my fair share of downpipes on the N54 and other race cars as well.

But I took some stock DP/cats I have here, and at the ID of the flex section it looks like it does taper down to under 2". But you don't ever take ID measurements. That'd be like saying your downpipes are 2.88" ID downpipes instead of 3" downpipes.

But nevertheless, set of your's or any other catless DP's would be a welcome edition to the car.

I know we have two clients that recently purchased with BMW Preformance Catback. Let me track them down and see if I can get some video for you. Or if anybody has RR DP & BMW PC please post video!

Thank you. I apologize if I came off rude, but just wanted to make sure others didn't think the stock downpipes were 2.375" in case they misread the statement. Yes, you are abosolutely right. The stock downpipes are more oval than round? They're also the most restrictive part of the whole system. On the catback, the exhaust is pretty straight except behind the 2ndary cats.
