It may take quite a bit of time to reach the 10+ GB goal. Is it going to be worth our wait, discount-wise, to stick with this GB or just to purchase it directly?

I know it wouldn't be worth their time to give a discount on top of their already discounted price for just one or two buyers, but their sales price is already pretty darn good... I don't know. Up to you if you want to wait. At this point I would probably sit tight, since last communication I had with Will, he said he'll be out of town for a big racing coming up: http://www.grand-am.com/schedule/eve...ries=r&eid=872 My best guess is if you place an order in the next 2-3 weeks he's not going to be able to fulfill it anyway since he and half the shop will be at Watkins Glen in upstate New York (if you're in the area, go check it out and say hi to Will). So given that tidbit, it's entirely up to you if you want to wait. On a complete side-note and tangent, if you've never been to a Grand Am race, it's an experience to behold if you're a car enthusiast. Will and his team (Turner Motorsports) are pretty friendly to the public so if you can get in the paddocks, be sure to stop by and say hi. Will's the tall (he's about 6' 3") clean shaven (at least the last time I saw him) dude in his mid 30s. |

Is this revised part from Turner anything different than I would get from any other B&M retailer? I just did a google search for this part and plenty of other vendors selling it from $165 USD:

Wouldn't hurt to email them and ask if that price is correct, ask them to double check with B&M to make sure. |

Just did some digging around, and Will's back from his weekend so I got an email response back. He didn't say anything about shipping overseas, but I get the hunch that shipping is shipping and he'll have no problem honoring oversea's orders. So those of you on the fence about the order, go ahead and add your name to the list.
Also spoke with my buddies at B&M, he's the national sales manager. To clarify a few things, the prices you're seeing online are from shops and jobbers that are listing the OLD price schedule, meaning that is the price for the old unit that was made 2-3 years ago that sits higher. He doubt that anyone is going to be able to honor those prices, since the new, shorter units cost them significantly more to make and he can't even sell them to the jobbers at those prices. Retail is $299. He also confirms that B&M and Turner will be the only ones with the new, revised shifters since they just arrived late June and BSM135i is the ONLY one with the new unit so far, and that what's on the shelf and what's sold to TMS, plus BSM135i's shifter accounts for ALL the new revised 45123. Will said he's setting up the back-end of his site to accept the special group buy pricing, and that once that special discount code is set up, it'll only work for the first 10 orders of the 45123 he receives. So this is how it's going to work, once he emails me all the pertinent information and confirm the code is working, I'm going to post it here and you guys will get to enjoy your new B&M shifters in the next few weeks. In the mean time, if you don't mind paying full retail, this is the only other place where you can GUARANTEE that you're getting the new, revised 45123: http://www.bmracing.com/PRODUCTS/BMW...MW-1-SERIES-04 |

Update: Just got off the "email" with Will's IT guy, all the back-end stuff to make the group buy is a go, Will's out of the office today but will be back to clarify whether or not he's got the items on the shelves ready to ship immediately when the order is placed.
I've also clarified about international shipping, and they will accept international orders as well, but for international shipping, you MUST email them prior to placing the order online to get a shipping quote, otherwise there'll be no "shipping" charge shown on the bill and they'll have to call YOU to confirm the additional shipping charge and can delay the order process. Email address to get international shipping straighten away: info@turnermotorsport.com In the subject line please mention B&M 45123 Group Buy and International Shipping quote. I expect everything to be sorted out by Monday and everyone on the list will be contacted via PM for instructions on how to participate, you will have until Friday to place your order to ensure you're getting the revised unit and GB price. If you have any questions regarding install, don't hesitate to PM me or post...I've done at least a dozen of these installs and knows all the possible screw-ups and hurdles. |

I don't think so. Like I said earlier, the margin for Will is pretty slim to start with, if I can get a bigger group buy going (say 20 people) he will consider free shipping on top of maybe even a bigger discount. As is, all this work for him and I don't think he stands to make more than $500 total even if I can fill 10 orders for him.
