2011 n55 27,800 miles

seat belt tensioner recall
3rd breaklight cracked
3 nails in RFT (glad I got wheel & tire policy)
Battery
Battery cable recall
Steering rack
Relay/cpu controlling steering wheel buttons
Passenger side rear mirror motor
VANUS threw a code, but dealer in "watchful waiting" mode
3rd gear synchro tends to bite, " "
Uncontrolled engine rev at stop sign, " "

Everything covered. Will either extend warranty this year or sell. Dont want to absorb costs of repairs with this car.

Fun as hell to drive (thats what keeps it around). Seriously, is it any more trouble/fun than an old British sports car?

I am at 53 K with really no issues at all with the exception of maybe 1 self-imposed.
Went FBO at 40K without issues and at 49K and ran 11.7 1/4mile with a COBB protuned E85 mix. The day after I noticed a small fluid leak from what look to be the differential. I went underneath and found tons of rubber from the burn-outs at the track! I did 10 passes. Anyways, scrapped/cleaned all that from the under the car, took it to the dealership and the replaced that diff cover seal at 49K. No other issues, it's my daily driver.

Vanos solenoid - warranty
headlight - warranty
3rd brake light - warranty
dbs/dsc system - cpo warranty
water pump - cpo warranty

Thats pretty much it in terms of warranty related items. I paid out of pocket for maintenance such as all 6 spark plugs, intake valve cleaning, coils and tires. I got 1 more year of cpo warranty left, but the car has been fairly reliable for how much power its currenty making.

2011 n55 with 37,500 miles. Only issue that needed repair was the clutch that went out on me. Pressure plate and throwout bearing failed. Got a new clutch, plate, bearing, and flywheel covered under warranty. Other than that the car has been flawless

I really don't launch my car or abuse the driveline too hard. The car has never seen a drag strip and probably never will. I take her on track fairly often, but the clutch disc was fine when it failed and still had 75% of the life left. Honestly I think it was just kind of a freak failure on the bearing which caused the plate to go bad. If it fails again i'd be putting in a more robust clutch with lighter flywheel anyways. Getting a clutch changed under warranty isn't easy if the disc gets worn out vs having the pressure plate/bearing fail. Even then the bearing is a finite item that will eventually wear out. After 50k miles i'd say the only way you're getting a clutch replaced under warranty is if the plate fails, which generally would happen sooner rather than later.

Since then:
Coil #1 (61-2k)
Waterpump (63k)
Valve cover gasket leak
Passenger door window regulator
Fuel door spring

All covered under extended warranty however i did have to pay deductibles on the first two individually really hoping nothing else goes wrong since ive only had the car about 8 months

Something always broken..

-3rd Tail light, replaced 3 times.
-Center console (between shifter and arm rest) replaced after battery cable recall replacement, scratched by service technicians.
-Fuel pump was replaced twice.
-Injectors replaced.
-A few other things covered under warranty I can't remember.

Two Weeks after warranty ran out, after 4 years @ around 46.5K Miles.
-Dealer left Driver side headlight cover open after replacing a halogen bulb, which after getting the car washed burned out the Xenon bulb also causing adaptive headlight to fail as well. They replaced the Xenon bulb free of charge but adaptive function does not work (filed complaint with BMW NA, they couldn't do anything and dealer refused to replace or pair the adaptive headlight)
-Water Pump failed $$
-Thermostat $$
-Oil Gasket leak $$
-Driver side window regulator $$
-The trim on the Dash, above the Radio and Glove Box, broke on it's own while at the dealer getting the window repaired...
-Have to take the car back, there's a loose bolt inside the door, rattles around while taking turns or closing the door.

Total out of pocket for repairs, almost $1800 so far...

2011 N55 DCT, PPK, currently 15k miles:

1. Multiple DCT software issues resulting in clutch to be dropped while stopped making the car surge forward or backward and stall. Resolved with software updates.

2. Battery died (after like 4 months of ownership, lol). Replaced under warranty

3. Waterpump broke leaving me stranded. Replaced under warranty.

4. Warped rotors cause vibration in steering wheel when braking. Dealer claims its normal wear and tear and wants me to pay. I've never owned a car before that has warped its rotors in 15k miles with city/highway driving. LOL

5. Stereo hissing distortion and crackling sound above half way on the volume, dealer claims they can't hear it. Everyone that steps into my car and listens to the sound asks 'what is that annoying hissing sound'?

6. Bunch of other codes being throw around that dealer claims were erroneously thrown by the computer - more software updates.

Car is a blast to drive, but come 4yrs and/or 50k miles its getting sold right before the warranty runs out.

I just had a window regulator go out. Took apart my door trim and the cables were frayed and tangled. Used a pair of zip ties on the track to hold the window up until I repair it, LOL.

Before this, was a new rear tire which had a large shard of metal go in and shred it. PSSs are expensive... Had about 100 miles on it before it was destroyed.

Before the one tire, was two new rear PSSs.

Before that was just minor maintenance stuff. Plugs, oil, walnut blast, etc.

I do not have a warranty, everything listed is out of my pocket.

At 64k miles and so far #2 coil, headlight washer sprayer, and getting some shadow codes indicating LPFP sensor failure. Not to bad I guess lol

well, let's see... bought it with 42k miles. It already was on 2nd HPFP.

These were all separate trips to the dealer before 50k due to limp mode, in no particular order:
injectors
plugs
HPFP (3rd)
walnut blast
ABS sensor
3 bent wheels

Then, after warranty:
Both vanos solenoids
Exhaust vanos solenoid (2nd)

I was at 56,976 miles as of yesterday when I traded it in. Something else was very very wrong deep inside the engine and I dumped it before it could develop into anything obvious. No, I don't know what it was, I just know it was a noise that occurred only within a certain RPM range, and probably not even noticeable to most people who aren't used to the car. Even before that, I was already fed up with experiencing limp mode WAY TOO OFTEN.

Let's see: I bought My 2008 135i brand new. Manual, Premium Package, Upgraded radio, M-sport package.

I have close to 60K miles on it (May 2013) and I have had the following issues all resolved under warranty:

1. Tail lights replaced (passenger side failed). Dealer replaced them both
2. Central tail light strip broke and was replaced twice
3. HPFP replaced - All solenoids were replaced too
4. Spark plugs replaced
5. Firmware upgrade to solve radio going silent
6. M-Steering wheel peeling resolved, replacing the steering wheel
7. Recently, the radio was replaced (after warranty expired) because LCD screen was not readable.
8. Battery cables recall

Wish me luck guys
