Misfire question... Please help
Hello I have already tried the search function and can't find what I'm after.
My car randomly throws a misfire code cylinder 6. Normally in 1st gear full throttle just after traction control starts to kick in, then again today on kick down at 60mph 3rd gear I think. Any help would be great, Last edited by 510135; 12-03-2012 at 12:37 AM. |

it's really strange because everything has been changed that could potentially be causing it, and it's always cylinder 6. HPFP was done recently as well. Last edited by 510135; 12-03-2012 at 12:49 AM. |

I have been doing some reading and found that vanos can play a part in misfire amongst other things. I have not thrown a vanos code but others have cleaned and swapped solenoids and misfires have gone (even without code thrown). Thoughts?

I think its actually your Blow off valves. Map 5. pushes the boost pass their holding level. and leaks badly. do you have upgraded Blow off valves?

Could also be carbon build up, I've seen a couple of threads since I've been on these forums about carbon build up causing misfire's. Since you've changed out your plugs, coils, and injectors I'd give that a shot.

As you have already changed the items that useally cause missfires,I think the next step should be to rule out any issues or problems with your tune. Maybe you could find a friend or someone that would switch with you for a day or so and see if the problem is still there.I may be wrong on this ,but with the diverter valves you just would not hold boost. Not sure if that would cause a missfire on the same cylinder. Even new could be a bad plug or coil. Good luck with your problem.
