n55 AFE Intake installed. pics!
A few weeks ago I purchased this: http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...BA%&brandID=53
I wish I would have snapped a few pictures during the install, and make a little DIY, but the install was very easy and I just wanted to get it done. Overall I couldnt be happier with it. The sound is amazing, gives the car a much more agressive tone. You can hear the turbo spool very well now, and the diverter valve is much louder. The car is much more responsive now, I noticed a difference right away. I think it compliments the BMW PPK very well. I went with the dry air filter. Pictures: Installed: |

Not at all and I don't think I will because I'm pretty sure when you shut the hood, the gasket that you put on the box touches or comes close to the hood

I don't have any before/sound clips but I can tell you it really made a difference for me. More throaty and that turbo noise....

this looks real nice, very clean. I don't know if i could justify spending almost 500 for it tho :/
Does the surrounding box actually keep the surrounding hot air away from the intake i wonder

im not sure how i would find that out. the car never feels "heat soaked" maybe i could position my phone with the flash on and record a video when i shut the hood to see how close the top of the box comes to the hood

If you have a tune you can probably log the intake temps... I've got a P3 Gauge and it can give me that in real time... Wish I could test one of these before buying...

I have the bmw ppk. I think its just fine. After driving the car for hours today, I did not notice any loss of power because of hot air it could have been breathing in

I was talking more about an after-market tune where you can connect a laptop and log the car's stats...

Hmm... probably wouldn't compliment my m3 style hood from iCarbon. Open top + functional vents = no bueno
That's in the rain, of course.

Look nice though. I used to have AFE on my E46 M3 and it actually lost power so i went back with streamline drop in. Wonder any power gain with the 135I

Problem is that any of the private sales I've been interested in on here always end up costing way too much in shipping. That's not a criticism of the great guys around here. I just think that the Vendors have access to much better shipping prices than individuals do... One guy told me it would cost $950 USD to ship an iCarbon lip to Oz and another guy told me over a grand for an axle-back exhaust... |
