Or just leave the E90 at home and take a cab to the airport.

i've used an unbadged car cover at MCO (Orlando, Int'l) with no problem

this was during hurricane season though, so I figured at best it would protect from the stray flying branch or something... but yeah its no big deal to NOT use a cover...

Another problem is that with current security measures, you may find your lock cut and your cover removed when you come back. Locking a cover onto a vehicle so you can't see what's underneath may be considered suspicious.

By the way, that's from the previous-airline/airport-employee viewpoint.

what are you so worried about? people park S500s and 7 series and 5 series at JFK outside for months on end.

You own a 3 series...and 99% of people wouldnt even look at it twice.

Don't use a cover- it will only attract attention. As said, many more expensive cars are parked there unend. People usually don't vandalize a vehicle unless the driver is an ass (takes up two spots, flicks someone off). Your baby will be fine. If you're really worried, havve a friend give you a lift to the airport and get your g/f to pick you up.

I agree it might draw attention to your car. If I were a thief, and broke into your car, that car cover would be a cover for me to work inside your car without being seen.

I am driving from Baltimore, Maryland. Its a 3.5 hour drive to JFK.

The flight I'm taking is to Moscow, not many carriers provide it, and the best, surprisingly, is a Russian Airline called Aeroflot. Best service and best food, and I've flown on about 6 other airlines and they all sucked in comparison.

JFK has a direct flight to SVO and the flight from Dulles, IAD, isnt for another 3 days. Tickets are bought, so the flight isnt changing.

My brother lives in Manhattan, but parking at the garage accross from his house is either 20 or 25 per day plus the taxi fare both ways.

I agree with most of the replys. I can say that from a vanity/damage aspect to your car it will get dirty with particulates from jet fuel and dirty overall conditions around JFK.

However, the car cover will invariably invite"the curious and unscruplulous" . JFK has serious issues with both vandalism and stolen vehicles.

Dont draw attention to your prized possession. Either utilize one of the off-site pay lots such as Avistar(i use them) OR PARK IT WITHOUT THE COVER(WHICH MANY MAY SEEM ASE PRETENTIOUS AND SCREW YOU) AND JUST GET IT WASHED WHEN YOU RETURN....IMHO

Avistar(Avistar.com) is reliable and fair priced. Provides shuttle service to your terminal and will have your vehicle warmed up and waiting for you on return. Just call them when you land......Good luck and safe travels....

Anyone know what the parking tax in NY is? I thought it was like 18% or something stupid like that?

So when you say they can warm up your car, that means you leave your keys with them. Does this also mean they move your car around in terms of making space for other cars to get in and out?

Of course you have to leave the keys. They move it into a spot when you drop it off and to the best of my knowledge is not moved....Until you arrive and call them to pick you up providing them with your ticket number.

According to their website, they are sold out for the time I need it for. Hopefully someone cancelled over the phone and I can get it over the phone tomorrow.

If you use Offsite, make sure there is nothing of value left in the car.
Check the car carefully for damages once you pick it up.
I used the NJ avistar for years, and generally had good luck, except for the one time they backed my car into a cement lighpost.
They denied responsiblility since I discovered the damage at home.
When I went back to avistar, I found my paint scrapes on the lighpost, and used the cell phone to call the local police. All of a sudden, they acccepted responsiblilty for the damage.

private parking

There are private parking lots which you pay a little bit more for. They are more secure.

I left my wifes brand new volvo there, at the huge lot. No problem.

Notice I did not leave my car!

I would not leave my E90 in an airport parking lot for 20 days. I'd take a limo or cab.

It's just a car!

...It's not like it's a vintage Ferarri or something.
