if you prep the surface well, the tape should hold. Lot's of emblems are held on with double sided tape.

When I picked up my European Delivery car, the european plate was attached with double sided tape. I stayed over there for a month, and the car took another month to be delivered to my dealer. When I picked up the car, the european plate was still firmly attached.

My front euro plate has been held in place with no-name double-sided tape for 11 months with zero issues. It's in a plastic holder but I did not want to drill.

I would put it all the way around the entire edge, and some in the middle.

Probably a pattern like that, with the outside edges all connected it's a longer plate because it's euro, so something like this [xxxx] Tape is cheap...

^ That's more tape than is needed, and won't work anyway because of the shape of the bumper.
The bumper is curved and the plate is straight, so the plate won't sit flush against the bumper unless you bend it, which might look weird. If you look in my garage, my plate is in a plastic carrier and is not pressed up against the bumper from end to end. Only the middle portion is actually contacting the bumper and that's where I placed a rectangle of tape. It's worked out well so far. |

My plate was attached by two small squares of tape at each end of the plate. The plate was bent to follow the contour of the bumper. It did not look odd at all.
Sorry to say, I don't know the brand of tape, but when I took it off after being attached for a couple of months, it was still firmly attached. |

You can get the tape at hobby stores, and Home Depot (in a large roll), I believe. Make sure it's the 3m HEAVY DUTY (gray foam with red peel-away plastic), not the standard (white foam with green peel-away).

3M automotive tape. Held up great for over a year and didn't want to come off. Didn't leave a scratch either.

Definitely 3m tape. I have it for my euro tag and its lasted over a year. Make sure thats it the weatherproof double sided 3m tape. You def don't want to drill into the bumper

The plastic carrier came with the car provided by the dealer (Pentagon Car Sales) and has their name on it.
I didn't use 3M tape or any kind of special automotive tape. I bought what I could find easily, which was a $0.99 small package of no-name regular double-sided tape. The climate here is pretty mild, but we do have a definite rainy season (several months long). It doesn't freeze or snow though. |
