Exclamation Photos of Valencia Orange 1M vs. E46 M3 Estoril Blue. Specs compared.

Thanks to Peter (member dick brown) for indulging me and letting me meet him and see his baby M. Thank you for allowing me to take a few pictures (sorry for the quality I only have iphone camera). This was the first time for me seeing the New M car and the new color Valencia orange. The color is perfect for the car and is beautiful in the south Florida sunshine.

Valencia orange 1M parked next to a Individual 2005 M3 Estoril Blue. Maybe the best colors to ever grace the M car's, certainly the most desirable!!!! Now only if bmw will take on production of the 1M another year or 2 and make it in Monte carlo blue...that would be a dream!!!! dick brown has a child seat in the back already! now that is a true M car owner... a practical everyday race car that can do it all and is a true pure ultimate driving machine. My M3 has been my Daily driver and as it approaches 7 years now on the road with over 42,xxx miles of joy on the odometer I can truly say the e46 is going to be a timeless classic collected by the true enthusiast for the rest of time. It has been a true joy. I hope the 1M and cars like it out of the M division have similar success over time. Enjoy your 1M Peter thanks again. And to all members enjoy these pictures...

Here's how the 1M and E46 M3 compare specs-wise:

BMW 1M:
Wheelbase: 104.7
Length: 172.2
Width: 71
Height 55.9
Curb Weight: 3362
HP: 335
TQ: 332
0-60: 4.7
Top Speed: 155
Drag Cd: 0.37

E46 M3:
Wheelbase: 107.5
Length: 176.9
Width: 70.1
Height 54
Curb Weight: 3415
HP: 333
TQ: 262
0-60: 4.8
Top Speed: 155

The E46 is a classic IMO, had a 2005 AW M3 and absolutely loved it! Next to the 1M, the 1M has a bit more of a modern/updated design but the E46 has aged VERY well!!! BTW, I must agree EB is an awesome color. Damn environmentalist ruined it for us! Monte Carlo is very close tho!

thank you and i agree monte carlo is a good replacement but estoril is 5-10% better still. I think the e46 will be a timeless classic indeed!

I love E46's and my next car will be an E46 M3, timeless classic NA L6 M Power. The 1M is truly the new generation of M cars for the future and it's a great car, awesome, but still the essence of M is best kept in the E46 M3.

Gorgeous cars! I agree with Estoril Blue being an AMAZING color, however my favorite colors for the e46 always were Laguna Seca Blue and the darkish yellow color (Phoenix Yellow I believe?).

As for the 1M, I currently await my Valencia Orange beast...that's the only way to have it!

e46 m3 got my vote.

Exterior comparision:
On the 1M, I do like the front bumper, the mirrors, the wheels, & the torque number.
That's it! The rest is kinda out of proportion.

e46 M3 looks a lot better overall.

I dont mean to hijack the thread, but look at this...

Great comparison!! The 1M looks so good, definitely more E46 than any of the E9Xs appearance-wise; and dare I say better because it's lighter, wider, and makes more torque!!

Why the endless comparisons? Can't these cars exist on their own? Both are great.

Love both. No comparison IMO; they belong to different times. The M3 has aged well, but looks old tech compared to the 1M. I would simply have both, if I had enough time to drive both!
