New Here...w/Sedona Red 128i

Greetings everyone! All of you have great rides and great discussions in this forum.

Thought I'd join in and offer some pics of my new 128 I got on March 30. I didn't pre-order. My dealer told me that two 128's had arrived the day before. One sold that evening and left the Sedona Red without an owner. Lucky for me! Last week my dealer checked up on how I was doing and told me all non pre-ordered cars (both 128's and 135's) had been sold. They had a list of 27 people waiting for a test drive. These cars are hot!

It's great to be back in a BMW after a short stint with Lexus. Hope you enjoy the pics.

What I notice in fast corners is that my legs will slide sideways more, obviously because there are no side leg bolsters. Otherwise, the seats are supportive enough. My old 330i had the sports pac and the seats held my body pretty much in place but those seats felt a little firmer unlike these new ones. I think the new ones will be better for me on long drives.

It's the tires that's surprising. I didn't expect higher performance tires but then again not this low of a level either. The tires that come with the non sports pac are Goodyear Eagle LS2 all seasons. Tirerack classifies them as standard touring all seasons. The tires can't keep up even with this base suspension. I'm considering replacing the tires soon to get even some reasonable level of grip.

My 330i had the sport suspension which was nice. I have not tried tossing the 128 around too much yet because of my lack of confidence in the tires plus it's been raining off and on up here.

Good looking!

As others have said, your Sedona seems very RED.

I know what you mean. The sun was a little high and quite intense. It was difficult to see any hint of that burnt orange kind of tint that we see in pictures or in person when the lighting is just right.

Did it actually look that red in person? I drive by the 135i sitting out in front of the local BMW dealership in sedona at least a few times a day and have never seen it look like that. That is a very deep nice red.

In person it doesn't look very very red. In fact when I first saw it at the dealer under overcast skies the first thing that came to mind was "orange tint". Under bright sunlight it's a little harder to see the orange in it, partly because of the glare. Plus, part of the reason may be a lack of good photographic skills. :iono:

It's a nice color for sure, but wa128's shots aren't representative, as many have commented. The pictures look more like Crimson.

Very nice 128i!!

Spudwest-

I've seen the car in Sedona Red in person and some of the things I've heard from people aren't exactly accurate. Same with the gray boston interior, many have said it has a blue tint. In person there's no blue tint at all. Whether in pictures or in a person's opinion it's best to look for yourself.

Couldn't agree more. I think it's a distinct color and it's a good one for the 1er - and apparently BMW thought so too, as it was the launch color. When I saw it in person, it was far more muted than I expected. The sky was overcast and the orange tinge really jumped out.

It won't be my choice, but I like the color, and I think it will set the 1er apart from other cars when you see it on the street.

Thanks for all of your kind compliments guys and gals. I appreciate it!

As Spudwest said, the sedona is a unique color. I hope it serves the BMW community well in the public's eyes.

HAPPY MOTORING TO ALL!

Great pictures but there is no way that represents what Sedona looks like in person. I saw a Sedona this weekend and while I didn't dislike it, it is much more of a burnt orange, clay color. Don't make any decisions on the color you choose, especially Sedona, based on pictures you see on your computer screen.

I have had these pictures right next to the car and this is pretty much it unless the color is off on your monitor...
