Finally got around to installing the system and wow the difference it makes. Currently need to take the drivers door trim off and source a better spot for the crossover as its made a slight indent from the dash as others have done. Well worth the time and effort very pleased with it shame the alpine emblems are missing to complete it

Hoping this is not old news but playing with my standard professional HU (135i) after watching a youtube clip and found a hidden menu - where it appears I have turned up my underseat subs. The sound is vastly improved IMHO - my seat vibrates now. To access - you must turn on radio and immediately hit the m button on left hand side and hold until the menu comes up then for me it was TP volume or DSP volume - turn radio off to exit...voila. There are a few other settings in there like DSP sound stage that I couldn't get working. If someone does let me know....

I also have the fader at 8 fwd and then bass at 5 and treble at 4...tp vol at 8...and played with volume under dsp menu

here you go - select radio if its not on already - turn off - then on and hold m button - doesn't work if ipod selected. Let me know if you think it works for you too. Actually had it cranked and was enjoying song...But perhaps wishful thinking

Hey! That is my video on YouTube!

Btw guys... I was at a German car show this weekend (Street Culture in Nurnberg) and the guys over at Mobile Audio Solutions told me they have done a lot of the Alpine amp upgrades for 1er's and 3er's. I asked him how much they charged and was pleasently shocked!

599 euros including VAT! Vat is 19% here in Germany. The Alpine kit costs 399 euros. They even said for anyone local you can buy the kit(tax free for Americans over here) and bring it to them to install and code for 200 euros! THAT is a good deal! I know it doesn't help you guys out down under... but it just goes to show you how easy this kit is to install once you have done a "few" installs.

Thanks for the tip on the hidden menu! I had a repair done to my vehicle a while back and I swore something had changed that resulted in less under-seat bass, but couldn't find any setting that wasn't correct. Now that I've gone fiddling with the DSP Volume via this menu I'm positive that it was something in there. Much happier with the re-balanced output while I organise myself for the full Alpine upgrade in 2013. :-)

I've got nav Business with the professional(?) stereo. Does anyone know if it is possible to get to this sub level option with this set up?

Yea, how do we turn the sub-level option for cars with Navigation.

Thanks.

Finding that "secret" menu has been interesting. Scrolling through the menu under "audio" I notice that my HU displays:
- DSP: and a number that varies depending how loud you have the volume
- audiosystem: stereo

...from reading the earlier posts (and I might be jumping to conclusions here) that I would have thought "audiosystem" would now display "hifi", rather then "stereo".

I only ask as I've had the alpine upgrade done and asked specifically about the coding. According to the invoice, they coded ...something...? After the install, I must admit to it not sounding quite as amazing as many of the folk on here have commented. I just assumed it was my fussy ears - but am now wondering about the coding. Can anyone who's done the coding post Alpine upgrade do the above test and let me know what is displayed?

Thanks

Mine also says "stereo" and they told me they checked the coding... who knows whether they were just brushing me off...

Yes. They're not part of the Kit.

The standard plastic base of my A-pillars already have some kind of grill - do I still need to purchase the extra corner mouldings? Do the new ones just serve to mount the tweeters behind the existing grill?

Thanks

Normally there is no grill(at the door A-pillar) on base stereo cars.

IF you have a grill like this... your car must already have HiFi or the HK upgraded system.

I just pulled the door trim and A pillar moulding off (it runs all around the inside of the window), and I have the grill and foam tweeter mount there, but no tweeters... Mine appears like your image dackelone, but no alpine logo. Car bought second hand, but no evidence of any tweeters being removed. I must have a strange car. Somehow I have the instrument cluster from a 135i too.

Is yours a hatchback? I think all hatchbacks have the tweeter grills but no tweeters as standard.

Does anybody know why these kits are available on all F20 and 21 including the LCI but not on the M135i?
Just wondering wether I should chance it to see if it will fit mine?

I haven't heard anyone talking about this kit for M135, this thread was for the E82.

Buy the bimmertech amp, someone was selling a used one on the 2 series Australia forum...

Has anyone had the Alpine kit installed in Sydney by a workshop? Can you recommend them? How much did they charge? Did they break anything?

I Want a better stereo than the pre-03/09 stereo mine has, but not interested in pulling my car to bits - I'm done with sort of thing (unless someone has done it themselves and found easy?)
