nooope its an option that is 75 dollars but i think every dealer orders them soo they can try to get you to buy sirus

My 325 has one and I was not charged the $75.00. I also do not have assist or sat radio. I think the US versions just come with them as prep package.

hmm. aside from sat radio, assist & nav, i always thought the fin was also a radio antenna.

I've probably seen about 100 e90s on the road or at dealers and even more on this site. Every U.S. car I've seen comes with the fin. I've also posted a few times now in different places asking anyone who doesn't have the fin in the U.S. to post and notify us to that effect. Haven't heard this from one person.

Just took delivery of my e90 and did not get the sirius prewire, bluetooth, or anything fancy and I have a shark fin. I assume that it is also an AM/FM antenna.

The AM/FM antenna is wired into the rear window. It does not use the dorsal fin.

Here in good old Australia, all 3 series (including E46) come standard with the fin antenna.

The SHARK FIN is standard in the US. It is used for BMW ASSIST/Bluetooth PHONE/NAV and Sirius.
It comes standard ... I have seen numerous bare bones 325Is with the fin. From researching it also appears to be standard, because all cars in the US come pre-wired for BLUETOOTH phone interface, which uses the antenna (this is from the BMW product information training guide).

So the answer is definately YES it is standard. If anyone has any other proof of a US car without it please enlighten us.

No. The Radio antenna (s - there are three that are used for an antenna diversity system incorporated into te antenna amplifier) are in the the rear window. Look closely and you can see them as thin lines 2 running vertically and one horizontally.

Thats why some non-US-spec cars come without the fin despite having radio.
