Sheer Driving Pleasure??
So I pick up my brand new black 135 coupe at 4pm Monday. Thankfully, I'd only had to wait a couple of weeks because I bought the car from incoming dealer stock - maybe my excitement and anticipation wasn't as great some who are counting the days and watching the shipping news but nonetheless it was pretty exciting rolling out the dealers drive, that exhaust note trailing behind.
Now 47km later the car is back with the dealer - a faulty thermostat left be stranded in Punt Road approaching peak hour yesterday. Anyone from Melbourne will know this isn't a good thing. Ninety minutes later while sitting around in 35 degree heat my lift arrived. So the car has now done 53KM, the last 6 on the back of a lorry. A bit disappointing....no fault of the dealer, they've been fine its just one of those things. Of course the unfortunate comparison is that the GTI I traded (4 and 1/2 years old) never missed a beat apart from blowing rear tail lights. Now I'm off to the UK for three weeks so the car remains sitting at Stillwell's until mid December. I'm guess on the positive side I'll have something to look forward to on the schlep home from London. For the obvious reason there a no photos attached!! I just didn't get the chance though I guess I could of got some shots of it on the truck. Any other early ownership hiccups that you think I might expect?? |

Oh nooo. That's not a very good start!
So far after 15,000 kms I haven't had any problems with mine. After hearing all these problems on this forum, I am starting to wonder if the workers at the Leipzig factory still think they are in the GDR slapping Trabants together....

Not sure I understand your post. What's this got to do with Stillwell's?

Anyway, I picked her up a second time yesterday. I've been thinking about getting behind the wheel for the three weeks I was in the UK. Kind of a distraction when I got tired of family stuff. In the end the over heating was caused by a faulty fan assembly - the thermostat was apparently Ok and sending signals to the fan but the fan was not cutting in - no fan in 35deg temps grid locked on Punt Road meant the electronics cut in and shut everything down. Now looking forward to the weekend for a first proper drive after three weeks in a diesel Passat hire car!!! On a positive note yesterday was like taking delivery all over again - which is no bad thing. |
