130 upgrades found in UK?

http://www.birdsauto.com/content/col...8710878300.pdf
BMW 130i E87 Complete Conversion
Performance Tuning
The New 1 Series is recognised as a superior sporting saloon. The heart of this complete conversion is, as always, the engine.
The increase in power as well as the full midrange torque improvement allows this car to approach the M3s considerable
performance, in a lightweight and agile chassis.
Moreover, there is little doubt that whilst BMW have endowed the car with superb dynamics, there remain significant margins
where performance can be improved. We have co-ordinated all of the necessary equipment and expertise to transform the
braking, handling and ride quality, so that the driver is able to fully communicate with the chassis, and truly elevating the
dynamics to provide the real ultimate driving experience.
All technical work is undertaken at Birds facility in Uxbridge, near Heathrow, with new engine management maps individually
programmed and transmitted from the factory. All conversions are properly guaranteed for both performance and longevity. Only
the best will do, and only available from Birds, The UK's Premier Tuning Company.
Underlining their place at the cutting edge of tuning technology, Hartge is unique in having installed its own fully automated
engine test bench- of the kind usually operated only by major manufacturers. This means that Hartge can carry out all the long
distance and endurance tests necessary in the development of their high performance engines. All Hartge engine components
carry comprehensive warranties of up to 24 months, without mileage limitation.

i'm not too sure it's worth modding the 130i that much.. if you've got more than $10k to spend it would be worth saving that cash and a bit more, then upgrading to a 135i
however, modifying cars is hardly ever the most financially sound investment..

Hi Guys,

I found one in Australia, which is a chip upgrade.

www.dmsautomotive.com.au

They claim 216kw and a whopping 346nm of torque over stock! 30nm of torque!!!

They also provided me with a dyno graph

The price is 2400 fully installed and apparently they need the ECU overnight.

20KW ATW is an improvement you can expect to see with turbocharged cars, I would think that highly tuned naturally aspirated engine would not have that much head room.
I think they are being a bit too enthusiastic with their claims and $2400 is a joke ( I was offered the same thing for $1200)

150KW ATW shown on the dyno graph equals 216KW at the crank?! That is 31 % drivetrain loss which would be about right if your car was AWD.

If I had $2400 to spend on improving 130i I would fit quaife diff.

Looks like Birds sell the same stroker kit that Noelle do.
http://www.noellemotors.de/BMW_1_series_E87.223.0.html

So you can stroke your 3.0L ot a 3.2L, but for the expense, hassle, and MASSIVE drop in fuel consumption you're much better off getting a 135i.

intehnet is totally right. Its not worth upgrading the 130i for performance. The chip upgrades are exaggerated and also include the exahust and intake mods. Some german dude did it to his 130i and found that all the mods combined only netted 15kw ATWs.

Best mods are (1) LSD, (2) Lightweight Alloys, (3) CDV mods (but not necessary in that order).

Hey dontask, what does CDV stand for?

I would have serious reservations about spending 2400 bucks on this.
I think the only way to make power from a chip/ECU is to have it custom tuned on the dyno.

That way, you don't just get a pre-programmed tune, but a specific one for your car.
Cost? you can get a unichip and have that chip custom tuned for about $1200.

I may be biased, but it is because I have been burned in the past from buying a flash tuner for my other car.
The program made it run like crap, and made less power than stock.
I threw the thing in the bin, got a unichip and custom tune and made 10-15% increase across the board, not huge, but worth the cash

The 130i has fairly good ignition and fuelling maps already.

There is an improvement to be had, but only really for optimised delivery and throttle response rather than a power hike.

The above powr quotes are certainly not possible

Clutch Delay Valve, I think it slows the release of the clutch automatically by slowing the return of the hydraulic fluid with a flow restrictor, the modification is to remove the flow restriction.
