Squeaking noise, pulley? Belt?
Hi.
I've got this noise on my '09 135i, what do guys think? can it be a belt or pulley? The engine light turned on earlier today and turned off after I pulled over for a couple of mins, could it be related at all? Some guys who have had pulley noises, have had it raced back to launching the car hard from a dig. ie: drag racing at the traffic lights. When you change gears quickly, the motor mounts will allow the front pulley to hit/contact the subframe - and damage the front engine pulley/belt. Its not a cheap repair. Some have been luck to have their dealers cover the repair.

would the sound come and go if this were the case? Ive had mine on the track, but not launching from traffic lights. I have same nouse which developed recently. at first belt dressing would make it go away for 100 miles or so. now it squeels and sounds like a bad bearing. but the belt isn't jumping around or coming off. anyone have an alternator pulley go bad and make this sound?

Same problem for me. Does anyone know which parts need to be replaced if it's a 2012 E88 135i Sport package convertible? Just don't want to buy the wrong bits.
