You are correct. Ever seen the size and weight difference between an auto and manual box? Gotta spin all that extra weight with something, and that something is your killer wasps

Have to give a plug to Advan.
I was apprehensive (as I always am) when I go to a new shop, but let me tell you, these guys are meticulous and handled the whole install process with a quality and precision I have never seen before. Unknown to me, this was (I believe) the first Australian install of the "wireless kit" and I didn't fully understand what was involved in installing the same. They had fully briefed themselves on the install before I arrived and the running of the vacuum lines etc was so meticulous, it looks like a factory install. On top of all this, the cost of install was below what I expected (would have happily paid more (Sorry peter for such a sensational job). Hats off to them! Guys, I can't debate with you to technical details of dynos and dyno runs etc for two reasons: 1) I don't give a shit; and 2) Anything you say technically related will no doubt sail over my head. What I do know is that in my 50 plus years on this planet, I have hot lapped Ducati's (in my younger days) and Porsche's (road legal track prepped GT3 (photo attached), and the change this exhaust system has made to the 1M is jaw dropping. Its been pouring with rain since I had it done, so opportunities to light it up have been limited. The power is not high end (like my previous M3) but rather usable right throughout the rev range. When you really get on it (and especially with the M button on), the punch is amazing. The sound is much deeper and richer than stock with no noticeable drone. Push the wicked wireless button to red and stomp the throttle and the sound has to be heard to believe. The quality of the Akra product is exceptional and I settled in the Ti tips as for me personally, I think the carbon fibre days are over (probably showing my age.......or scared about the $$ I dropped on carbon fibre parts during my Ducati days). All in all, I couldn't be happier with the product, the install and the resulting hike in not only performance, but also, the symphony of sound I know hear. |

Interesting thread reading all the posts.
I was there on Tuesday for the install when I had an interior detail to be done, so I shot (pics and vids) the whole thing. I was a little surprised on the pre install dyno run to see 208kw. I genuinely thought it would hang around 220kw. The runs were done with M mode off. Runs immediately before install and immediately after. No change in ambient temp, humidity or dyno settings. I'll be processing all the pictures tonight (along with a few details for you boys that booked in last week), so won't be too long. Luckily I have video'd the dyno runs in full with the live charts so you are able to see these haven't been doctored. A legitimate increase on the dyno from 208 to 249rwkw. I think a few of you guys should get down to Advan and get your cars on the dyno to compare! Stand by for pics and vids tonight. |

So here's a better view of Paul's dyno sheet. I have to say this is by far the most impressive power increase I've seen with an exhaust. Well done Akrapovic.
