HiFi Loudspeakers

Has anybody got the HiFi Loudspeakers ? I'm going to order this option but was wondering where the 10 speakers would be. According to BMW there are 10. How is the quailty? I had the normal E46 ones on my Vert not even HiFi and I was OK with them so I'm guessing these would be sufficent for me.

Two in the doors, two tweeters in the side mirrors, two sub- woofers under the seats and two speakers and two tweeters on the rear shelf. Note the rear speakers are dual cone - so they count as a pair each - hence the count of 10.

The sound is very good, but probably not 'audiophile' quality. Certainly good enough that you shouldn't need to change them out for a while at least.

The E46 Stock System was absolute trash... The HiFi setup in the 135i sounds way superior!

It's pretty damn good. Noticeably better than what I had in my old 318i (it sounds like I had the same system you had). I would say it's worth the expense - unless you're just going to listen to talk radio.

Adjust the standard bass and treble to get the sound you like.

It's very good, not great. I've had expensive aftermarket setups in my previous cars and I think my (positive) opinion of the HiFi is somewhat skewed by the fact that there are zero rattles! That's more a function of the interior build quality and the absence of 2 12s flexing the windshield, though.

Take a look at this:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5913

It gives the layout of the speakers, the quality in my opinion is quite good, I am not an expert audiophile, but I do value the broad frequency range, clarity, and the lack of the distortion at high volumes that the HiFi system can deliver.

So far, well worth the extra coin.

The "HiFi" labeled system IS the premium option for an additional $875. HK is not an option on the 1.

Edit: Oh wait, I see you're in Saudi Arabia so that may well not be the case. In the States, it's standard or an upgrade to HiFi - no HK option. In SA, judging from you post, you guys have HiFi or an upgrade to HK....?

Not sure but you can't worry about the 10-15 lb extra sub in a porker like the 1. Not gonna make much difference here.

The audio systems are divided into 3 groups: .

The US only gets the standard HiFi and optional Top-HiFi (Logic 7) systems.

Just to clarify, the 6 speaker "Stereo" version is not available in US/CA. All US/CA cars have 10 speakers, including two subs under the front seats. The standard is known as the "Hi-Fi" version, and the "Premium" version does include the HK Metal Cone speakers replacing all 10 speakers, an upgrade to a 300 Watt Amp, the addition of the Logic 7 processor, and USB (but that may be standard in all '09s ?).

Subjectively, I tried both the Hi-Fi and Premium speakers, and while I don't think there is too much difference in tonal quality, there is certainly much more headroom in the volume, and I personally love the L7 Cinema sound scape.

If you live in a country with the 6 speaker version (which is the same as my old E90 323i), I highly recommend upgrading to the 10 speaker Hi-Fi sound system at least. The 6 speaker version is pretty underwhelming.

10-15 isn't bad at all! I was thinking they'd be around 40-80 lbs. extra! I guess 10-15 makes sense, since there's no box or housing unit.
