Well it took some time and effort to find a dealership willing to order this hood but it's here. It got to the point that I didn't know anymore if I really liked the hood or was it the hunt for something that I couldn't have. Seeing it in person, I like it. The 1M hood was kinda a let down(IMO), being that it is straight from the regular 1 series and when you see what M division did to the rest of the car with all it's flares, vents and bulges.
OEM fit/finish was important to me so the Active E hood seemed like the obvious choice. Also, the fact that BMW M division considered this hood for the 1M but then axed it because of aerodynamic concerns tells me that the designers thought it would look good as well. The aerodynamic aspect is a bit surprising to me, that it would be that much different than the M3 power dome. I understand it is wider than the M3 but the fact that one helps while the other hinders so much as to not put it on the 1M? Maybe some financial factors were at play. Dunno and we will probably never know for sure. Anyways, I will post more pictures once the hood is painted(color matched) and installed.

Fresh from the paint shop. Still needs a roundel. Will do better photo shoot in the near future.

Good for you! Glad a dealer came through (and won't be the first time Scott2x is wrong
 ) Look forward to seeing pics once painted and installed. Wonder what the weight difference is (if any)? Are you going to paint it uniform AW or perhaps do a color scheme of/around the bulge?

Awesome!
Paint it solid AW. I think if you were to do a color scheme around the bulge it would make it too busy and would detract from its subtle look.

My dealer still says this hood is not showing in the ordering system although it is even listed with a price under the parts section. I need to check again this week. I'm definitely sure it will look Awesome, can't wait to see the pics

Important to note, I called several dealerships in several different states. This was not purchased in the US, had to go overseas for this one.... The price? It's not for the faint of heart, the EUR to $ conversion, the taxes/tariffs and worst part of it all was the shipping. It was just as much as the hood itself.

Good to see things shipped from overseas come here intact. My tail gate from japan came to the west coast in one piece but got bent up shipped within the states. Looking forward to your install pics!
