Black lines throwing error codes

Bought a pair of blackline lci tail lights off a forum member, they work great, but about a few hours after I installed them the car started to throw an error code for the rear lights. They're the xenon ones (the bars light up) and my car has the lights package and has xenons.
My car is a 2011 128i with the premium package

Any idea what's going on?
Do they need to be coded in?

They don't need to be coded. I would double check to make sure you have the plugs properly attached.

Will lci blacklines work on a 2012 model since its pretty much the exact same light just darker color?

If you have Xenon/AHL, yes.
