DTC60 Pads - Review
Used the Hawk DTC60 pads on the stock calipers (front and back) before going out to Summit Main. I loved the feel of these pads - braking was excellent; low pedal effort to get full braking and it was much easier to control the release of the brakes. The brake pedal also doesn't go down as far which makes heal/toe easier.
Life of the pads is certainly better than stock, but I would still love to find a pad that lasts longer. Here is what they looked liked after 2 days: The rears looked basically new. The fronts here also wear unevenly just like the stock pads do; not sure if others are seeing that. Looks like I could get maybe 4 track days out of these pads - maybe! In order to get around the uneven wear, I flip the pads - they wear more on the top than the bottom. Given that rotors can be gotten for pretty cheap (compared to pads), I would opt for a rotor 'unfriendly' pad that lasts a long time. -Joe |

Have you looked into the Hawk BLUE 9012 if they are offered in your caliper? I think that is their more endurance type pad if I am not mistaken.

How do your caliper pistons and boots look?
Im starting off my 2014 lapping seasons this evening on Carbotech XP10 pads. I will put my slightly modded 135i through its paces, for four 20-minutes sessions (half a day). Then this week-end, I will following an advanced training session for two days (7-8 sessions/day). Will report back on pad wear and feal.

The pistons look OK, but the boots are pretty much gone. I've been experimenting with an attempt to seal them up with high-temp RTV; but I don't expect that to work. |
